I'm talking about people who live in Africa or South America, especially without air conditioning, do they get used to it or is it always exhausting and do they practically hate it? What do you think or do you know the answer for a fact? I'm just wondering, I mean I like die on a hot day and I live in Canada. :)

  1. They're used to it, physically and mentally.

  2. they in my opinion probably get use to it, i live in a state that most of the time is hot and really after many years dosent seem as bad as people think when they first arrive here,

  3. I think they do get use to it.  I mean, you may hate the heat and live down south, but you still don't "die".  I live in Wisconsin and it was almost too hot at 80 degrees today.  People down south though go through 100 degrees all the time, so they can adapt better.

    Interesting question!

  4. I'm sure they definately get used to it, but only to a point.  I hate the heat too, mostly when it's high humidity.  But think of when the summer it's just beginning.  The first 80 degree days seems super hot.  However, after getting into the mid/late summer months, and going through 95 degree gross, humid days, 80 degrees seems beautiful and very bearable.  Our bodies do adjust, and I'm sure they adjust even moreso when living in a climate that is hot almost all year round.  But I still don't know how anyone could stand that, ugh.

  5. I do live in a really hot country and Its a fact that people get used to the heat.  After about 2 weeks of no air etc.  Your body acclimatizes and you feel completely different.  However; you are going to suffer in that first phase.  If you sleep or just spend time in an air conditioned room during the adjustment period, it won't work.

Its funny.  I keep my book store air conditioned to keep the books dry and because I am a bit spoiled with the A/C. Many times Vietnamese will freak on entering the store.  They don't like the cooler air and many leave immediately.

So different people get used to different living conditions.  And most people acclimatize in a relatively short time period.

  6. Of course.  If you moved to their climate you would "die".  But if they moved to Canada they would be freezing their *** off on days that you dont think are that cold.

Ive been all over the world and experienced this first hand all too many times.

  7. They are used to it. If you live in one place long enough, you tend to get used to it. It is like natural selection. The more the generation lives there, the more they will get used to it. If the people living in the hot areas were to go to where you were, they would be freezing. If you were to go there, it would be really hot. As I recalled, someone did a test and moved some eskimos to Miami and they died from the heat because their bodies could not take the heat.

  8. Yes, I think people get used to the heat and manage.  You will too.  I live in a hot part of the USA and when I would go to Canada in the winter for work I always thought that you guys kept your living and working places entirely too hot. When the Canadians came down here in the summer they always complained that we would keep our places too cold.  Funny isn't it.  We adjusted quickly.
