No, it depends on how you wear them. You can have pigtails, with a cute, cool oufit that isn't girly or too dressed down. Pair with some cute dangling or hoop earrings, with light makeup to brighten your face and give even more prominence to the features your hair style accentuates. Not for everyday, cause highschool is brutal.  Every once in a while it just fine.

well, i wear my hair in asain bun pigtails all the time, and i always get compliments. its not JUST for little girls. whoever told you that is dumb. thats stereotypical. if you like it, go for it. f**k those who dont. ya know??

Depends on how they're done.  It could be cute if they were low, tied with ribbons and were curled with a curling iron.  As long as you don't go overboard, then it's fine.

it's fine for an occasional thing. I used to love doing it when I had pink hair and in fact i played up the young thing with pink bobbles with plastic flowers. It's your hair so just have fun with it. It's only a hair style you can always just take the bands out. :)

It actually depends on the hairstyle the 16 year old has. I would say that its not a little bit too young for a 16 year, unless you have short hair. If you have short hair, then it will look cute because it can rest on your shoulders, but for long hair, it would look a bit odd. It could work, but then again it would look odd. Hope I helped you!
