i used 10 stars method with my 5 years old boy

everytime he gets the 10 stars, time to get a toy

seems working very well .. and i make sure that i explain why each manner is important, so he does not do it only for the stars

  1. Hi my name is mary yes i do think it's good. My 2 son's have adhd i use the buck dollars i found this on the internet and they get $7.00 fake dollars to start with and i start it on sunday  and if they still have $3.00 they either go on our party barge or get a cheap toy or do special things with us

  2. I think it's a great system for teaching lots of different good behaviors, including good manners!

  3. Appreciation always works to motivate others to do or not to do some thing....this is why many offices give Man of the month or year certificates to their employees with no money ...Even its just a piece of paper with no major practical implication yet a satisfaction is felt by the receiver that his/her efforts have been recognised.

Same time too much appreciation may also make it the habit of the receiver to always expect the appreciation....this way he might get an attitude where he feel depressed/de-motivated when he didnt get the appreciation that he was expecting and others may not simply realize....in short a problem of overly expecting from others........

  4. It's a kind of bribe but yes it really works.
