My friend and I were thinking today, (yes it hurt a little) Why is the white ball the dominate ball? It is the one that hits all the other balls in to the pockets, and why is the black ball last? We thought the man who made the game was racist. Only for the simple reason that the white ball seems to dominate the black ball. the white call hits the black ball in, the whit call hits the strip balls in, the white ball hits the solid color balls in the pockets.... why cant the 8 ball be blue or green? When does it have to be the white ball hitting the other balls around? Why cant this change? I love pool. However, it just came to me that this is a racist’s game. Do U think it is?

  1. Yes of course it's a racists game, BUT NOT THE ACTUAL GAME OR BALL COLORS..h**l I abuse who ever I'm playing to the max, even if it entails being a lil racist ,,,,BUT h**l it's only in fun cos cop the same from opponent, That's life WHO ISN'T RACIST these days HUH?

But not game itself, that's being plain stupid to the max...Cheers Bro...

  2. This is actually an old comedy bit from Chris Rock.  His "Nat X" character from SNL went on a rant about pool.  It was pretty funny.  He said that he liked bowling because he liked to see the "big black ball knock down all the white pins with red necks".  It was some clever writing.  Happy Thanksgiving.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  3. No, that's absurd.

If you look hard enough you can come up with racism in anything.

    Billiards/Snooker was invented in India.

  4. This is really a little overboard.....sounds like someone out of the 60's looking to make it all racial....just keep quiet and enjoy the game...for it is that just a game....my cue ball has 6 red dots on it ...what does that make it?.....enjoy the game!!! and life in general.....don't look for petty things like this to get worked up about.....take a look at Michael Richards "rant" tape and then lets both get after it and him....good luck!!.....I love the game ...my blackball never seems to go in...does that make me a racist or the ball a racist???.....Love ....Happy Thanksgiving.......oops the Turkey is white!!!.....but actually you will be eating it so that's ok...right??

  5. So you would rather have the black 8 knocking the other balls around, or a colored ball knocking white balls around. Wouldn't that still make a racist reference? How easy would it be to play trying to identify and hit balls of varying tones of gray then?

    You're thinking too much.

Just concentrate on the next shot.

  6. yes , and soccer was invented by Mexicans , thats why the ball is black and white ........ dude its just a game , do you think the 8 ball is meant to signify a skin color ?? if that were the case why make the black ball the one that is last ??? IF IT WAS RACIST THE BLACK BALL WOULDNT EXIST, OR IT WOULD BE FIRST TO GO .......... get a clue ,

  7. no

Black 8 ball just mean the end/death.

  8. Why is it that people try so hard to make everything racist?  Can't we just enjoy the game for what it is?

  9. I don't see the white ball as being the dominant one at all. It is the one that has to do all the work isn't it? All of the other balls just sit there and wait for the white one to help them into their pockets. And in a game of 8 ball isn't the 8 the big winning ball? If it was blue or green that might make someone else upset like people with blue or green hair , huh? If it was red that might p**s off the indians or mexicans , right?Get real man it's just a frickin game! LMAO!

  10. Well i think that you have some interesting thoughts,,who knows but I think the last ball was chosen to be black for the very reason the white ball is so important.  The opposite of white is,,,black.  SO the second most important ball ,,,,the last one is   black.  Also maybe they wanted black to mean death(end of game ball)    The cue ball being white is a neutral thing,,,white is no color.
