I sometimes think the teacher treats them like short adults instead of children. How do you feel? Please no parent or teacher bashing...it's not nessasary.

  1. Well I don't know. My daughter goes to a VERY good preschool. I couldnt' be happier. It is a private preschool and the teachers do a wonderful job. All of the teachers have education or early childhood development degrees. They do not treat her like a short adult. She is treated like a child and is encouraged to get dirty when they play. She has also learned a great deal. I would always go with a private preschool over a public one.

  2. Yes, I sure do, Teachers are not what they used to be.  I used to respect them so much... NOW that is another question!!

  3. No, I think they're just upping the standards (as they should be) to eliminate this plague of stupidity that has swept over the Earth.

  4. Depends on your view of childhood and of teaching. I say you can't blame teachers, if you've ever spent time in the education process of a teacher, they are taught exactly what they can and cannot do, they aren't taught to think flexibly and outside of the box. Schools don't want teachers who can do that, they want teachers who will follow the curriculum provided without question. On children, however, I think they are both treated childishly and as adults. We have unrealistic expectations for them, but then don't take seriously their abilities and desires to learn. We expect them to deal with an onslaught of modern ideals, but not be able to make their own choices on even what to eat or when to sleep.

    John Holt says

"Oddly enough, the reactionary view and the romantic liberal view of children are like opposite sides of the same coin. The hard-nosed types say that to fit children for the world, we have to beat the badness out of them. The romantic child-worshippers say that in fitting children for the world we destroy most of the goodness in them. One group claims that children are undersized and defective adults; the other, that adults are oversized and defective children. Neither is true. There really are ways to help chidlren, as they grow, to keep and build on all their best qualities."

  5. You think that preschoolers are babies?  Try teaching toddlers.

  6. I think a lot of parents are retarded about the whole situation.

If you don't want your kid in preschool, don't send him. Its state funded if its in the public school system and yet many parents don't understand the importance of even having their child there on a consistent basis- you'd be surprised how many times districts must bring charges against parents for this simply because they can't get their kids to school. they view it as a child day care center- thats not what it is. AT ALL
