It's real! I just got back from the Trans allegheny lunatic asylum, And we saw some crazy stuff!! Got some on tape, and some EVP's...TAPS is the ****!! Ghost hunters are the ****!!

although it would be funny if they ran into a real ghost who didn't enjoy the prospect of people hunting for ghosts purely for curiosity purposes, who are just trying to rest in peace

Personally....  I think the TAPS ppl are genuine and sincere and I'm a fan.

If the whole show was fake, they would have more "ghosts" showing up.  As it is, they debunk at least half of the places they investigate.  In interviews, Jason and Grant have admitted only maybe 10% of the places they investigate offer any kind of evidence of something happening.  The rest (which we don't usually see on the show) don't have any, are easily debunked as natural phenomenon, or out in out ppl trying to commit fraud.    

I will admit I've noticed Sci Fi Channel edits and only shows the footage that offer some drama.  How much boring, nothing is going on footage do you think ends up on the cutting room floor?  Quite a bit I would imagine.  

Just my opinion.  But if you aren't "entertained" in watching the show, you can always change the channel.

Sorry, but The Atlantic Paranormal Society is a real organization out of Rhode Island that investigates reported paranormal activity.  They first try to debunk or disprove happenings that are reported to be "ghosts", but they also do take photographs, video, audio recordings, etc. and sometimes they capture things that cannot be explained or disproved despite their efforts to do so.  

The sci-fi show that their investigations are featured on is edited down quite a bit - an investigation that takes 8 hours will only be shown in highlights on the TV show - but they are really out there investigating these sometimes unexplained phenomena and trying to learn more about these events.

Many things they have found scientific and/or mundane explanations for, but there are those few that they will admit they are unable to explain or disprove, and they will often refer to these things as "paranormal" rather than "ghosts".  Paranormal simply means "of or pertaining to the claimed occurrence of an event or perception without scientific explanation".

But of course, anyone with an interest in the paranormal and unexplained mysteries would find the show entertaining as well.

I think it's real because if it were fake they'd make it seem like there are more ghosts than they document.  They document very little so it seems on the up and up to me.  The lack of evidence that all the TV ghost hunting shows provide lead me to believe that paranormal activity is a psychological phenomenon; tricks of the mind.  Don't you think it's odd that the most reported phenomena is apparitions (people seeing ghosts) but the cameras never seem to catch anything?  Also, it is suspect that most ghostly encounters happen at night after bedtime and in low light.  People are only half awake and half dreaming.  I know this because I myself have have many waking dreams that scared me to death and they seem so real.  But upon further investigation it is only my mind playing tricks.

The most intelligent comment I've ever heard regarding ghosts is:
