Seriously....I have had and still have Black/Asian/Mexican/Native (anything) friends, and the only thing I see is the minorities complaining about being discriminated against. Me and my buddies laugh all the time. Is the main population really like that.

Source: I grew up in Milwaukee WI.........and currently live in San Diego CA. All my 'ehinic' friends like to be called American with no African attached......I mean come on.....We are all Americans and love the same thing.

  1. If the subject is heritage, then I don't see any problem with the hyphens.

My friend is American first off.  If discussing his national origin, he is Philipino-American.  If discussing his ethnic origin, he is Chinese-American.

But more than anything, he is just a person like anyone else.

  2. i live in Melbourne, Australia where there is allot of multiculturalism and immigration...There are definitely races (and religions also) that segregate themselves in our community. If this were not so why are there suburbs that are well known for having people come from a particular cultural background....

  3. Um yeah!!! All I see from minorities (wether it be race, religion, s*x, etc), they all play the victim. How to they expect us to treat them like everyone else if they are always playing the victim.

I have a L*****n neighbor. She says I don't like her because she is g*y. No, I don't like her because she is mean to me and talks crud behind my back. Has nothing to do with her being g*y.

If minorities want to be treated like everyone else, they need to act like everyone else!!!

  4. Though I like to enjoy diversity, I must admit I don't want to live in communities that are extremely different form what I feel comfortable with.

I think most people feel that way. they like to enjoy life in an environment where they personally feel comfortable.

They therefore tend to separate themselves into communities. Those who share their culture help them feel at home. It is human nature to feel that way.

The only problems with that are those problems that are artificially created.

Superstitious and ignorant people hate what they don't understand or what is different.

"Social engineers" attempt to force people into situations that make then fell uncomfortable or that they fear.

Let people be what they are and enjoy the variety that adds to life. Allow everyone the opportunity to pursue what they want without fearing the unusual.  DON'T attempt to "force" others to "like" what you like. Then we may all get along better.  - We are all just human.

  5. They certainly do because our country has some how made it clear that we will cater to you, whatever the race is wether is writing it in Spanish or making sure a biker bar serves a family, minorities have figured out that they can get it their way or its discrimination.  Frankly I am tiered of this hyphinated c**p like African-American, Latin-American, Japanese-American and so on.  Here is what people need to realize, we live here this is the way things are and you can take them or leave them.

  6. You definitely could make the argument that many people, whom are not white, use race as an excuse, and i agree that some may use the words of those such as MLK when it suits them, however you could say the same thing about, not just racial groups, but religious groups as well, in making such an argument it is important to remember that not all do this, only those who do not wish to put in the work themselves, but rather hide behind their skin, so-to-speak, and i agree that it is a lame excuse and only prevents equality, even though that is what those who use such an excuse claim they want

  7. I think a large part of all ethnic groups wants to be separate. I'm glad you and your friends see yourselves as Americans first and fore most. "I believe a man should be judged not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character" MLK. Notice he said nothing about what color he was referring to.

  8. I think wealthy people keep poor people away from them.

    (In America).
