Do you think racism has gone down?

Or it's not as wide spread? Or maybe it's more subtle. Of course, there are many racists out there, but do you think it's alot of racists? Or a little? I'm not just talking about white racists, but racists in general.

I think racism is alot but not as much as before because their are laws that protect against racism and the laws have consequences unless their would be a ton more everywhere in the world.

Its so funny to me that so many people think that because Obama is running for President that racism in America is lessening. For the everyday Black person, we are still getting our tails kicked daily by institutionalized racism. I care nothing about whether a white person likes me or not, its about employment and credit in America.

Any Black person that thinks that racism is down, must still be staying in his parents home. Try to get a job or get credit on the same terms as a white person and you'll see racism is alive and well. Bank records show that a white high school drop out can get better loan terms than a black college graduate, these are the things that matter, not Obama.

Its no accident that the jails are full of black men, the majority for small drug offenses. A locked up Black man creates all type of job opportunities than for white people. Affirmative action caused whites to lose jobs, so that had to stop immediately. Incarceration creates jobs, so which one won? Racism will never not exist in America because this society could not function without someone for White people to chastize and make them feel superior to.

Only amongst white people. Per capita, there is no more racist group of people than American blacks.

oh yea! i live in the south, and back when racism was just kicking off, (slavery) you could walk down the road and see a black person hanging from a tree. it was normal to see things like that. jews hiding in attics. of course all of these things were waaaaaaaay back in the day. not too long ago, black people couldnt drink out of the same water fountain as a white peron. so, yes, it has come a long way. there are a lot less racists now than there were 20 years ago. people are (hopefully) starting to realize that racism does nothing but bad in the world. alot of people today hear a comment about something silly, and try to make it out to be racist, which gets on my nerves. if people cant be adults about EVERYTHING, then they shouldnt even talk.

I don't think whites are as racists but blacks are legally allowed to be now. Which has made it by far worse.

I think it is going down... but slowly. Slower than most people would like. It's hard for some people to think different after being raised to think a certain way. But I definitely think that tolerance is on the rise =]

I believe that racism still exists ... It seems more like " Modern Day " racism instead.

yes better than 10 years ago. Specially because of culturally diverse populatiions and interracial and cultural marriage.

I think racism increases/decreases with media attention to the targeted race.  Think about it, the big "racism" issue isn't an issue until the media makes it an issue.

Not at all....I just think more people are hiding the fact that they're racist now. A few decades ago being racist was completely socially acceptable and every racist let it hang out. Now days racists come under fire (and rightfully so) , so the majority of them keep it under their hats. .....usually.
