I overheard from a website that reconstructors were planning on building a memorial ship to honor the Titanic's journey in 1912. Do you think White Star Line should build another Titanic? Exact size, The night name it either Titan or Titanic2. I can maybe get in contact with someone from the White Star Line. Someone from that Ocean Liner company is from where I live. So do you think they should build another Titanic? (Out of stronger metals and things to make it where this time it wont sink)

  1. I think it would be a loosing proposition!  The company that would build it would never never re-coup their investment.  Ridiculous idea!

  2. There have been a few ideas for a new Titanic although I don't believe that they have gone any further than that. I found an article from the New York Post dated April 6th 1998

and a website that lists all the ideas, proposers and progress to date.

Many ideas have been proposed but nothing concrete has emerged.

No cruise line will ever build another Titanic. If you are talking about an exact reproduction of the same size and configuration of the Titanic.

The movie, Titanic, glamorised the upper class accommodations but today a cruise line could not fill the 2nd and 3rd classes at the prices necessary to make it viable. The few suites and first class cabins would not earn enough money to justify the cost of building the ship (and that's what the cruise business is all about).

  3. No, because the Titanic wasn't very well designed and it would be sad.

  4. Sure why not.  And Celine can sing when they christen her.

  5. no

  6. of course they should, the Titanic was a collasal achievement. It wasn't the fault of the ship that caused it to crash, It was that of the captain. Just about any ship can sink, It all comes down to how well the hull can withstand penetration.

  7. Depends on how stronger the ship is and where it goes (so long as it's not where icebergs are, lol). But maybe not because the length of the ship is approximately 880 ft, and I've seen bigger ships from Carnival and RCI.

  8. sure they should . thats a really big part of history . i think it would be awesome .
