  1. yes by everyone no matter where they live?    It will hopefully save us one day.......

  2. No.   There should be financial incentives for doing it right.   Raise the bottle deposit to 25c each instead of the current 5c it is in 8 states and has been for decades.    5c just isn't enough to make most people bother any more.    A national deposit law would be best, and if done correctly would actually bring in money for the govt.

  3. YES! I am trying to find places to recycle and having trouble. It should be like regular trash pick up I think! Some people still don't recyle at all!

  4. I think everyone should be recycling, but how would you enforce that?  You would need people to open up every ones garbage to make sure they didn't throw out anything that can be recycled.

  5. Sure, right after we lower the stars and strips and raise the sickle and hammer.   I love fines, when faced with such loonies I find the most creative ways to retaliate, like motor oil down the drain, paper in the fireplace.  Trust me, I can destroy far more than you can ever save.

  6. if they do, i'll just toss all my trash back in the woods

  7. Yes,but no fines.I believe that people with negative answers on this subject, should consider how much Earth will be left if we continue to cover it with all our garbage. The more we can recycle the better off we all will be.

  8. No.  Some recycling is good, some isn't.  Paper/cardboard recycling, for example, aren't necessary at all.  And we're already paying too much tax as it is.

  9. yes. and we should call the enforcement unit "greenshirts" adding yet another parallel to hitler and the facist mindset you are proposing we adopt.

obviously my answer (yes) is sarcasm.

the answer any real american will give you is NO!

    emphatically NO!!!!

  10. No. Mandatory recycling is pointless because no one should be made to anything. IF a person wants to put their trash in a dump instead, they should. The certain reason it shouldn't be mandatory is a fine for not recycling or doing it right? Not really a good reason to fine somebody...offering an incentive would be easier...

  11. Yes, yes, yes!  I know a couple that just moved back from California and that state actually pays you to recycle.

  12. recylcling is a psychological game.  With the eception of metals, it does nothing o make the environment better.  If people were serious about sequestering carbon to reduce global warming, we would ban recycling of paper and dump it all in the mariana trench.

  13. Yes it should it would help alot. We'd use half as mutch enery as we do now and we wouldn't be using up all our resources. I'm trying to spread the word about recyclling and saving energy by using special light bulbs and unplugging every thing when your not using it...did you know that a stereo that is off but still plugged in uses more energy than when its on. a good thing to do about it is us a power cord and just turn it off...

  14. yes, i recycle all the time.

  15. I think so, just because a lot of people don't recycle and don't have a good reason for it.

For example, at my wife's work they have recycle bins.  It's barely even any less convenient to recycle as opposed to throwing paper and cans in the trash.  Yet most of the people in the office just throw recyclables in the trash.  One woman when asked why she didn't recycle paper said "oh I don't do paper.  I only recycle cans" (because she gives them to her son to bring to the recycle center for the refund).  There's literally no reason for it - she just refuses to recycle.

If everyone would recycle willingly, then that would be fine.  But as long as people continue to add waste to our landfills that could be reused, I say it should be mandatory.

  16. Recycling is typical of leftist causes.  It is low on substance and is all about feeling good.  When it is economical, you don't need coercion.  Coercion is something leftists seem to love even if what they try to force you to do is really nothing more than trying to get everyone in a collectivist state of mind pretending they are saving the world.   You should welcome sequestering carbon by burying it.

  17. I'm from the northeast, where recycling has been in effect for years. The trash contractor supplies recycling bins ...one for glass and plastic and one for paper and other recycled items. We were not charged extra, as the trash contractor turned them into centers that paid them. We also had recycling centers where you could bring anything that could be recycled ( but you did not get paid for the stuff) as well as being able to take aluminum cans & bottles to machines at grocery stores which recycled and gave you a receipt for your "recycle deposit", which you could cash at the store.

I think it would be a great idea for everyone to do it, not only because it would help the environment, but also because sometimes using recycling, for various products helps keep the cost lower also and saves us money also. It does not take much effort to recycle and anyone who wants to do it, can train themselves to do it. I'm not for or against making it mandatory, but imposing fines...NO!

It would be nice if they raised the "refund price" from 5 cents , but even at 5 cents..every 20 cans / bottles tossed away, is a dollar you lose. Might not seem like much, but if you look at the amount of cans / bottles you use, the loss could be a nice little sum.

  18. Mandatory, but no fines.  Incorrect recycling in the home isn't in quite the same ballpark as a serial ax murderer.

It is important that folks feel good about recycling and helping the environment, not fearful of recycle n***s.

  19. yes i definitely think that recycling should be mandatory i mean it helps everyone

  20. No, just make it free of charge and raise the fees to collect and dispose of solid waste. That will provide incentive to recycle.

  21. The old saying is "you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar."  Recycling shouldn't be mandatory, it should be desirable.  If it is our public policy to recycle we should use incentives rather than fines in order to persuade people to recycle.  For example, a community could randomly pick a customer and offer a reward if the trash is found to be free of recyclable materials.

  22. No.  That's just one more thing that is turning my beloved country into a nanny-state.  We need to stop relying on government to solve all of our problems.  Most of the time government doesn't solve problems, it only makes them worse.  What's going to happen if we mandate recycling?  Are we going to have the garbage police sorting our trash making sure we've recycled every bottle and can?  Or how about the fact this would just more incentive for busy-bodies to stick their big snouts where they don't belong, in my life..  And if you don't believe that happens, just look at any sub-division with any set number of unnecessary bi-laws.  People living by those laws love nit-picking finding every little reason to complain and report those who don't abide.  If you believe recycling is important, go out an educate those why (although it certainly entails some inherent problems).  But don't demand more nanny-state laws that only serve to criminalize everyone.

  23. yes

  24. h**l no

its your choice what u do with it

the govornemt already has there hands on our daily lives we dont need them getting anymore into it

  25. I think that everyone should definitely do it. I really should be mandatory since the world is in serious danger and even small things like that could help. Also, composting should become mandatory too, for the same reasons.

  26. I thought you guys said it wasn't about taxes or forcing people to live different lifestyles?

  27. Yes, I sure think so. If everyone recycles, there would be less trash in the dump and more stuff for us to use.

  28. Absolutely not.

If recyclables become a hot enough commodity, companies will be paying people to take their old newspapers.

No need for unnecessary government intervention.
