I know it's unlikely but the match attendance has increased enormously and the Six Nations is the best attended sports tournament in the world. There will be over one million spectators this year!

Along with this there is hardly ever any trouble as the crowd don't want it- we would all rather sit and have a few pints with other fans before, during and after the games.

The game has also become more accessible - like being able to hear what the ref says. It is also so much more interesting to watch- compare the poor England rugby on saturday with the apalling England football in the week (I fell asleep).

  1. No, it will not. ultimately, football is the most popular game in the world but Rugby will always remains among the top game.

  2. I see where you're coming from but i can't see it happening. The game doesn't have the same resources as football clubs. There is no question that rugby supporters are as passionate as football fans and there are probably as many fans, but there has not been the investment in the domestic game like football

  3. No I don't think it ever will.

I don't think your facts can be correct.

How can the 6 Nations possibly be the best attended sports tournament?

Football is so much bigger than Rugby it's not even funny.

As Arcadia has proved, Rugby takes a level of understanding that some people just don't get

  4. eventually wen more ppl in the world know about it then yes it will.

I think wen someone gets a try its more suspensful then a soccer goal.

  5. No, but it will become more popular then it is now.

  6. i dont understand why it aint the most popular sport, its well more exciting to watch on TV than football, let alone better to play. the only problem is though you cant really go out in to garden and play rugby with your dad or play it a lunchtimes with your mates but with football you can

    unfortunatly

  7. "best attended sports tournament in the world"???!!  According to who? There are over one million spectators paying to watch football at all levels in the UK.. every single week!!

Compare the endless long punts into touch, compare the continual stoppages for obscure rules that no-one knows about and change every season, compare the appalling England rugby performances in the last 18 months with any England football match in the same period, compare England's reliance on kicking points rather than scoring tries ...thats "interesting ", is it?

Rugby is a minority sport, always has been and always will be.
