Question:

Do you think scientists are delaying finding of alien life because of religion?

It's somewhat along the lines of The Davinci Code. Discovering life outside of earth could change the course of religion, thus destroying a lot of people's faith and lives. Do you think it's possible they're delaying or hiding the truth from us because of this and other reasons? Or that religion will simply rewrite itself to fit in with new scientific discoveries?

  1. There is a delay because of technology. there is alien life form. you and I both know there is. scientist don't care about anything except discovery.

  2. Oh, yes, d**n all those fundamentalist scientists protecting religion from data.

  3. scientists don't give a flying flip about religion. Truth and hard facts that's where it's at.

  4. I think that Christianity is truth... God made Man unique and an original masterpiece. It makes me sad that science has gotten to the point where it thinks it can over rule God. Not all science is proven fact. I could care less if the whole world rejected and murdered me for my belief in a  Devine Creator and Creation, I will follow Him. As for religion rewriting itself? I don't believe the well-grounded Christian church will buckle if scientist claim life exist outside Earth... I do believe some waco self-proclaimed prophet will use it to his advantage somehow, but my faith won't sway. The media is so oppinionated these days, can we truly believe in any of it? There are biased newscasts all over the globe... "The light area was there in one photo shot, and gone in another one. This PROVES it was water." ???? That doesn't prove anything. It just proves that there MIGHT have been ice there, or white sand that the probe un'marsed' (unearthed, hahahaha)  and then blew away a moment later. We cannot prove that there is a creator, if we want to be ignorant, he won't shove himself on you. BUT if you are open to finding absolute truth (WHATEVER you may think it may be) I believe the God of the Bible will prove HIMSELF. :D

  5. Umm..sure...

There's a global conspiracy among the scientific community to uphold religion and hide the discovery of alien life.

It all makes so much sense to me now...

  6. h**l no

  7. No, because many scientists don't give two craps about religion in the first place. If your idea was true, I'm sure they wouldn't pursue evolution as a topic as much as they do since it also conflicts with religion.

The fact is, we simply haven't really encountered alien life. I do believe life is out there, however. It's statistically the only reasonable thought. They're likely billions of light years away, however...

  8. No, I don't think scientists are hiding anything. As for religion being disastrously affected, I doubt it. As you mentioned, religions would either re-interpret itself and its underpinnings to fit the new conditions or various new sects would pop up to accomodate the discovery of alien life.

  9. This is a false conundrum; "religion" is not affected either way by "alien life".  As a matter of fact, many strange cults exist around the belief in "alien life" of various sorts.

In the Christian religion, Jesus spoke of having "other flocks" to tend to.  The most obvious understanding of this statement was that he was currently teaching the Jews and would begin gathering the gentiles (everyone else) after his death, burial, and Resurrection.  However, it has been used as "proof text" for such outlandish things as Mormonism and belief in extra-terrestrial life.

  10. Regardless of the religious beliefs of a particular scientist  - not all scientists are atheists, many are devoutly religious - a true scientist will not allow their personal beliefs (about God, evolution, or the Loch Ness Monster) interfere with pure scientific exploration and observation.

Scientists investigate, examine, and analyse data and facts.  The religious or political ramifications of those facts do not (and should not) play any part in science.

  11. Scientists don't give a d**n about religion.

  12. We have not discovered life in any form on any other planet but our own. While some building blocks for life have been found, no molecular level or higher life forms have been found on other planets or moons thus far. Therefore, there is no cover up, there is nothing TO cover up. It has nothing to do with religion. Why should it? So we find out that we share the universe with others on another world, does that mean you won't go to church this weekend? No. Would these 'new' peoples mean any less to God simply because we didn't know they existed before, no.

There is no delay in finding alien life, alien life simply isn't close enough to find, if it exists at all.

  13. Some religious scientists might be, but they are not the only scientists. There are plenty of scientists participating in SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence).

  14. If a scientist found proof of extra terrestrial life, s/he would would tell the world ASAP.

  15. Yes i do thing your right plus i belive the scientists are also covering it us because of    it will disturb our way of life and start to make us all panic and the governments don't want that

    that is my 2 cents

  16. no. they're delaying finding religion because of alien life. if there was proof of relgion, and not alien life, they'd be outta job! isn't that what thay do,  find a logical reason/evidence for things.
