Do you think selling tie-dye shirts would be a success?

Well, I'm thinking about making and selling home-made tie-dye shirts. They actually look very good. That's why I wanted to do it. I'm thinking of purchasing the dye for about $11 and shirts heavyweight cotton for $1.89 each and selling them online. Do you think it might be a success? Or do you think if I start to invest in products that I'll be stuck with everything unsold? Thanks.

  1. no offence ... but i don't really think anyone wants a tie-dye shirt :S

  2. If you are serious about this.  Selling it on internet will not work.  Ask yourself this, would you want to buy a tie dye T-shirt on the internet?

Now, if you want it to be a sucess, then you have to rent a space at your local flea market.  Each flea market has different prices.  There should be one around a 30 miles radius from your house.

They're usually around $20 for a day.  You bring your merchandise, along with a safe box to put money in.  I HIGHLY recommend bringing a parent, untill you know the art of haggling.  Hagling is when the buyer tries to get the lowest price, while you want to sell for the highest price.

At first, there won't be many people coming.  You have to do something unique, so someone would want to buy it.  For example, you spray their name on with some fancy technology?  You're an entrepeneur, you gotta think of something.

A kid might be, "Oh daddy!  I want that!" And you'll get a sale.  However, I think $11 is kinda expensive.  I suggest $6, which is still kinda over priced.  You see, most families are bargin hunters at flea markets.  My mom only buys shirts that are under $14.  She has a fantastic shirt that she only bought for $8.  Now why would they buy a tie-dye shirt for $11?  They won't probably even wear it that often.

You gotta have a cool feature, so you can sell it for $8.  If it is a regular one, it'll sell for maybe $4.

You could make different designs on each of them.  You can stencil their name.  Just tell them be back in an hour and it'll have a custom name for you.  Instead of the old peace sign design.  You make butter flies.  Ahh whatever you can think of!

    Hope it helps! :)
