Do you think sexism sunk hillary's campaign?

I ask because there are MANY diehard clinton supporters who vehemently insist it did. That it was the difference. Why she lost. I don't have a horse in this race, I'm just curious.

Personally I don't think so. I followed the primaries closely, and her gender never really was on my radar. What sexist comments may have been made by some, I don't see how they translated into people voting against her. Interested in people's opinions on this one, because I really don't buy it. Maybe you saw something I didn't.

  1. In fact, if anything the sexism went the other way.  A lot of her supporters will tell you flat out that they supported her simply because she was a woman.

She lost because she is fundamentally an untrustable and unscrupulous person.  As they say her "negatives" were high, meaning that many people just plain didn't like her.

  2. No.

It's just a whiny cop out.

Some women will play the sexist card just as quickly as some blacks will play the race card.

It's weak, whiny, victimization c**p that has no place in the personal arsenal of anyone who might consider him or herself a winner of anything.

  3. No and Obama is not sexist. The man adores his girls. Lets be honest. Bush,Clinton, Bush, Clinton. The country just didn't want it and as bad as the lies are with Obama, what do you think they would have done with Hilliary? Cheating Husband, L*****n lies, where was she when he was cheating, Campaign Broke, menopause(Serious).

  4. I don't believe it was that. The plain truth is that people just didn't like her.

  5. No Hillary sunk Hillary's campaign!!! Though I will add that because Obama is considered "untouchable", because of his race. This provided an advantage on his part. I would easily vote for Condy or Collen. But would never consider voting for Hillary or Obama neither because of their s*x or their race, but because of their character

  6. Nope.  I think Hillary sunk Hillary, and Bill helped shoot the holes in the boat...  She thought she had the whole thing in the  bag, too.... she spent a boatload of her own cash on that campaign and still didn't get it done.

That was an expensive wake up call....

  7. I believe the answer is no. I also believe it has to do more with Bill. It will be forever engraved in people's minds RE adultery. Lots of individuals believe Hilliary should have divorced him. But on the other hand they would have given her grief if she was with no one! But I still like her. She should still be in the running. I don't like what we are left with & I will not be voting this year...

  8. Although there was an awful lot of sexism in the media, I didn't think that is what caused her to lose.  But then I got to thinking about the DNC continually trying to get her to drop out.  In my whole life, I don't remember them ever asking a candidate to drop out and I'm 60.  I believe they thought they could push her around because she's a woman and they didn't take her candidacy seriously.  They also had nothing to say about the sexism in the media.  Considering how close the primary was, the DNC was way off base.  They had picked Obama several years ago to be the candidate of choice.

The DNC has very undemocratic rules which were clearly brought out to the public in this close primary.  That, plus their obvious sexism has caused me to become an independent.  Its gone beyond Hillary.  The whole party needs to take a good look in the mirror.

  9. No

  10. Sexism buoyed her candidacy.  The bulk of her votes were women voting for her because she is a woman.  Had this been a man he would have been out early in the race.

  11. I think it was timing more than anything.  If Obama's Wright scandal and other scandals had come out before Super Tuesday, he would have lost.

That said, there was absolute sexism against her on a lot of fronts.  I'm not at all a Clinton or Obama supporter, but she got a raw deal.  Obama was immune from criticism b/c he had a cult following in the mainstream media and was a minority.  People are more sexist than racist, obviously, b/c Obama and Clinton are almost identical on paper.

  12. She made the same mistake that Obama's making now.  She wouldn't admit that it's her obnoxious personality that sunk her candidacy, and wants to claim that it's sexism.  Obama is following the same road to ruin, claiming that anyone who isn't with him is racist.  OMG, it almost seems as if they had PLANNED to hand the presidency to McCain.

  13. That is just making excuses on their part.

  14. i dont think sexism was a factor in her dropping out. in my opinion yes we are ready for a women president. aslong as it was anybody but hillary.
