Do you think shockwave and flash will ever become one?

Our 3d modeling teacher had really not much knowledge of director and after showing him a 3d game I made with director he said shockwave will probably become one with flash eventually.......Now I'm just wondering what other people's option on the subject is. I mean I look as flash as great for web development and director great for making more high end solutions. It seems like where flash is weak in Director is strong in and were flash is weak in director is strong in. I really hope they keep offering both products because to me it seems like they are both geared towards a different audience.

Flash CS3 is a huge step in this direction. However 3D programming requires much more coding than actionscript can handle.

But here, take a look at this website built with Flash, Photoshop, and various 3D programs and you'll see there's a lot that can be done by combining programs and techniques in the workflow:
