OMGEE YEA ANIMAL SLAUGHTER IS CRUEL. its really sad seeing animals tortured and dying slowly and painfully. its really mean what people do to animals these days. same with animal/pet abuse. thats just sad. but hey, thats life in this cruel world.. i wish it would just stop.

I do not think that it is cruel. I grew up in farm country and to tell you the truth farmers take better care of their farm animals then the big meat companies. Most small time farmers only kill what feeds their family. Back then people had to survive on what they had on their farm. My family are all hunters and I personally could not do that myself because I am a big animal lover. I am however aware of the problems everyone would have if no animals were hunted. There would be tons more deer hit on the road and city's would be over run by wild animals crawling everywhere. I always tell people do not kill it if you are not going to eat it or if it is not threatening your life.

I know a lot of people are going to yell at me for this view but the world has been like this for hundreds of years and all of a sudden everyone has this big problem with meat eaters. If it is not one thing it is another.

I do think its cruel becasue we have no right to kill any other living thing on this planet.

Just becasue we CAN kill them, doesnt mean that we HAVE to!!

It's pretty funny - lots of people my age have killed animals for our food - either game animals or animals around the farm.  But if a lot of younger people who eat meat had to kill their own food they'd probably turn into vegetarians.  To be up to your elbows in blood is something you have to get used to.

Sure!  Killing animals is cruel as h**l.  I'd take real exception if some animal tried to kill me.  But that's how we get something to eat.  Pretty hard to stop doing that.  You can try being a vegetarian, but it's a tough life.

it is wrong to be cruel to animals i would never hurt a animal for fun on the other hand animals are killed for there meat for us to eat but that is done in a humane way from what i was told i look at people that don't eat any animal products and im proud of them i know i could never do it so good on you

No. I think that the way the large meat processing corporations do business is what is cruel, but when a farmer raises his own animals, keeps them safe, feeds then, and is kind to them its fine. Actually, most farmers figure out the ways that make it quickest and most painless. They also use almost all the parts and use the meat to feed their family.

I think your opinion also depends on where you live. For example, I live in Kentucky and its just a way of life around here, so I'm used to it. But it would make sense that a person born and raised in New York City probably wouldn't understand it and find it inhumane. Its all a matter of culture and the way you were raised.

I think that it is only cruel if they don't get some kind of painkiller. If they do get one they don't feel a thing and there is no reason to  find it cruel.

Consider the fact that those animals would have never existed if we didn't need them for our food. They would have been killed in a much more cruel way by predators.

I think chickens in far too small boxes, only laying eggs all day and not being able to even walk a centimeter are much more of a sad story.

We all have to eat. And as humans we have the choice, the freedom to make it less painful for the animals we kill. But we will still need to do it to survive.

Don't be naive and think we could all turn into vegitarians. Most people won't do it because it's too hard.

Hobby hunting IS cruel, I think almost all of us would agree on that.
