Do you think slow drivers should be ticketed?

Do you think that slow drivers should be ticketed for holding up traffic? Think about it for a second. Have you ever noticed that after you follow someone slow for a while, you feel the need to speed to make up for the lost time, or to get rid of the road rage that the slow driver has caused you?

  1. If they're impeding traffic....they can be.

  2. No because if it is there first time on  the road and they get a ticket they could be tyo scared to get back out there.

  3. No they shouldn't.  It is you that feels like you need to speed to make up for lost time and the road rage you feel is your immaturity showing...as you age you will get it all in perspective.

Slow down and live awhile...the number one killer in auto wrecks is speed..usually in the 16 to 25 crowd...induced by drinking alcohol or feeling they need to make up for lost time.

  4. As much as they may be trying to be safe, they are actually a hazard. I don't know if I would go as far as to ticket them, simply because the police would be super busy and I don't think you can force a habitual slow driver to drive faster without making the driver uncomfortable and/or worried constantly about getting a ticket. Better to take a sip of your coffee, breathe deep, switch lanes, and keep an eye out for the slow ones next time.

  5. Only if they are going less than the speed limit.  If you are so impatient while driving that you are bothered by such things you have many other issues to work on with your therapist.

  6. If they don't move over when they start impeding traffic, absolutely.

For those that poke along in the left lanes of multi lane roads, the tickets should carry a VERY heavy fine.  A lesson learned hard is a lesson learned well.  Really, this is the only way to teach left lane bandits (and that certainly includes the self righteous "I'm going the speed limit" group) that the left lane is for passing.

For single lane roads, the driver should be ticketed if they don't periodically pull off the road to let faster traffic pass (at a bare minimum when more than a few cars pile up behind them).  If this happens so much that it becomes a serious issue for them, they shouldn't be driving on that road.

Here in California, most such roads have periodic turnouts that slower drivers are required to use.  For drivers who refuse to use the turnouts, the fines should also be very heavy.  Upwards of 500 dollars for this offense (and for left lane banditry) would be a great idea.

  7. No, that is stupid, think if there is lots of traffic, you automatically have to slow down, then we all should get ticket?

  8. only if they are going 10 or lower than the speed limit than yes

i hate being behind slow people and yes it does make me want to speed because i am angry whereas if i get caught i dont feel the need to speed because its just something that happened that i cant change and wont cause to me to do anything stupid like cut somebody else off or speed

  9. Tennessee state law says that if you go more than 10 MPH under the speed limit, you can be ticketed.  I agree with this, as a car going 55 in a 70 is just as hazardous as a car going 90 in a 70.  (I know from experience... =])  Especially if they block up the left lane, which is quite common around here.

Unfortunately, excessively slow drivers aren't often ticketed.  It's one thing to go 20 in a 25.  It's another to go 30 in a 50.  At least that's my feeling.  But I don't take it as far as needing to speed up for lost time.  It just gets frustrating when there are 14 cars behind someone, and they don't take the hint.

  10. No, it's the fast drivers that  have the "need to speed" or try to "get rid of the road rage" that need to be ticketed.  You can't ticket someone for giving someone else road rage.  The person with the road rage is the one that should be ticketed.

  11. yes, yes & yes!
