Every child's different, but I see some boys who are real wusses and wonder where the father is.

  1. Some dorky boys have autism in its many forms. Some just happen to prefer books and art to football and WWF. Doesn't make them bad, just makes them different from you.

My son is 6'9" and has high functioning autism. He has his own online comic and does really original digital art. He lacks the coordination and ability for sports but is a pretty good swimmer. And when some idiot jock who thinks everyone has to be like him makes fun of him, he squares his shoulder and hovers his large-boned, Scandinavian/Native American frame over the idiot and the idiot backs off.

This is even though D has no idea how to fight and would never harm anyone.

  2. Who are you to decide who's a wuss and who's not?  Those "wussy" boys who you assume have no fathers showing them how to be big tough men can probably think circles around you.  It's because of smart people who are introverted and sensitive that we have all the technological and medical advancements we have.

Besides, you don't know whether that boy's sensitive nature might inspire him to be a life-saving doctor or fire fighter some day, while a "strong" or "manly" child might grow up to be a wife-beater.

It's pretty lame to apply labels on people and decide that your canned assumptions of personality are applicable to every person as if you're some kind of expert.

  3. i agree , some dads need a good kick in the pants to make them make thier boys a man ,

  4. It really depends on what you mean by a "firm" dad and just how irrational the child's fears were in relation to the dangers involved, as well as his age, of course!  I don't believe in "tough love" to teach a child about life. My sons were always treated with respect, dignity and love and they are definitely not wusses and definitely not dorky. I would say if this child was something like 12 and was acting like maybe a toddler and afraid of everything in sight, then the parents probably hadn't done too good a job of raising him. Maybe they have sheltered and coddled him too much instead of allowing him room to learn and grow along the way.  A child needs to be allowed some independence in measured amounts as is appropriate for his age because it is necessary and healthy for him.  That way you don't need tough love, and you don't make the child afraid of his own shadow.  A child needs to know his parents are there for him when needed but that they have confidence and trust in him, too.  That all being said, the child could have had some other problem, too, that you don't know about.  Sometimes it's hard to say what's going on. Not everything is as it appears.

  5. What's wrong with being a "dork"?

  6. Wusses? Do you have some kind of issue with your p***s size and have to prove how manly you are by calling names and judging other guys? There's nothing wrong with being sensitive and having hobbies besides trying to be as manly as possible. Grow up please.
