Do you think some of the major people on YA who said global warming is real found out it was a scam?

I notice many of they people who gave "real science" are not here anymore could it be becasue they found out that global warming was not a real issue.

I have to agree with Ken.  Many of the people here seem unintersted in learning, so what's the point in continuing to answering the same questions over and over again?

Case in point: a day or two a slightly vague one-liner question was postes with a link that might clarify the topic.  9 out of 11 people quickly responded without following the link to discover that it was spam.  They had no interest in whatever anyone could possibly be directing them to.  I suspect that's fairly typical.

It's fairly easy to look most of this stuff up.  Anyone who cares will do so (and not simply regurgitate one-sided blogs).  People who are more interested in justifying their entrenched habits and lifestyle or who believe that this is a political issue will simply get dragged kicking and screaming in whatever direction the science and the world takes us.  That's OK, this is a long term question.  

I don't expect to participate here much longer because the format is too "hit and run."  People post junk from lousy sources then run off to the next question.  You can disprove misinformation to your heart's content but no one may read it, and the ones who do don't care.  They're only here to debate or to justify themselves.  The person who contributed junk will be back the next day (or an hour later) with the same junk, or 10 more people will get it from the same junk source and post it.  It gets pretty boring.

Nice try though.  For people to find out that global warming was a scam it would have to be a scam, and skeptics would have plenty of credible evidence.  Dana asks very directly for that evidence pretty much every day now.  Since no science is offered (or what's offered is easily explained) she is probably getting bored as well.

i think some were shills for the environmental movement.

when they found that some people really researched the subjects they found there propaganda was backfiring.

when you get people to actually do research many go from just agreeing to learning.

that applies to any subject not just global warming.

that is why teachers give out assignments having students do research on subjects.

some teachers give out subjects to research and also hint there views on the subject.

some times the teacher gives a view that can not be supported.

this is to see if the student tries to mimic the teacher view or does the research trying to find the best data

the student that mimics the teachers view may get a C

the student that finds the best data most likely will get a A

maybe they learned something.

instead if mimicking others.

or maybe they found that many of us were learning because we were doing the research instead of just trying to get the 10 points by mimicking there views.

the global warming believers use every trick of the far left radical environmentists.

1 they counter every anti global warming researcher research as being payed for by big oil yet offer no proof to back it up.

many of the pro global warning scientists are getting money from enviromental shush fund trusts or foundations

2 they claim that only climatologist can make claims that global warming is not real

yet they flood us with research from non climatologist researchers claiming  global warming is real.

talk about a double standard.

3 they make claims that X number of scientist support global warming then ether will not provide a list of the scientists

or make claims like groups like the the so called 50,000 scientist of the  American geophysical union support GW.

when anyone can join the AGU and many members are not scientists at all.

i could join because i was a the vice president of a mining company and i do not have a degree.

they use save Bambi appeals to sway people even though they can not prove any of there claims.

IE the polar bears are drowning yet they can not show that any have.

all they have are a few photos without any context behind the photos to prove that global warming had any thing to do with the bears in the photos

for all anyone knows the polar bears in the photos could have been shot by hunters.

the problem with polar bears drowning is that polar bears are very good long distance swimmers.

4 they claim that scientist that are not climatologist are climatologist.

you can see by the NASA site he has no degree in climatology yet he is being called the leading climatologist in the country.

he is also a card carrying treehugger and has got money from the hienz charitable foundation.

I'm sticking around long enough to learn every asinine argument put forth.  Hence forth, when I get into good discussion with some (poor, woefully ignorant fellow), I can (quickly refute his bogus arguments) and everyone in the room will know he's full of it.  Not really the Dale Carnegie approach, but you just get sick of it after a while.  You think I'm kidding?  Dude,  I've been at this for 35 years.  Like, we're going to give up and say ah, whatever happens happens, no big deal.  We'll just ignore the problems and they'll go away.  

You have no idea how fortunate you are that smart people are working on these problems.

Ken's got it right.

I assume you're talking about Trevor and Bob.  Trevor has been otherwise occupied, with what is none of your business.  To suggest that a climate scientist has found out that global warming is a scam - if that's what you're suggesting - is laughable at best.  Bob has been inactive for less than a week.

I could also give you a long list of formerly active deniers who have disappeared from Y!A, if you're interested (which I know you're not, because this is a dishonest 'question').

Myself, I've lost interest in Y!A several times, but stick around for the purpose of ensuring that the correct information is provided to those who are genuinely interested (not deniers).  Half my answers are copy and paste to answer the same questions over and over.  Some actually discuss new science, which are my favorite.  Some are just correcting the deniers' misinformation.  Those are boring.

Overall it gets very repetetive, and I can certainly understand why people wouldn't want to continue answering the same questions, lies, and myths over and over.

Let me know when you get YOUR  Nobel Prize for proving that all the other climatologists are wrong. No matter what real scientific evidence that has been posted here,you'll never understand it,so you just call it a world wide scam,of some sort. A lot of real data is researched and studied before the scientists publish their findings for other competing colleagues to review and give their opinions. If there was a 'scamming' scientist,they would be exposed as a fraud without delay! When are you going to publish your 'real' scientific findings? We would love to see your data proving the rest of the world's scientists incorrect.

Actually, in my own experience debating issues on the Internet I've found that each individual has a limited capacity to read and write against the same bogus information over and over again.  So those of us that understand the science, can indeed eventually be warn down (throwing our hands up in despair) and quit trying to explain things to people clearly uninterested in learning.

Global warming, like the war on terror, is just another scam and a way for politicians to keep people afraid and under control and to give up more of their human rights in the name of "protecting us". Part of a YouTube video I saw a few months ago was that the earth was actually 2.5 degrees WARMER than it is today back during the Roman Empire. I don't recall which program I was watching but it was based on ice core drilling samples and charted by well known experts on climatology.

I am not a scientist but I can detect a huge load of BS when I smell it, and global warming smells like it. When you get a politician like Al Gore making movies about it you should automatically know that it has no scientific basis at all. It's all political spin. Especially from a guy whose Tennessee mansion (with heated swimming pool!!!) uses the same amount of power as TEN regular size homes!

Like me I think that they are just losing interest in this forum. It is nothing more than contradiction and insults and goes no way to open up the debate. I had thought originally that it was going to be an interesting exchange of ideas and information but as you will have to agree if you look back at any of your previous questions this is not the case. I have yet to see one single piece of evidence that will change my views on AGW.

I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone on YA that can cover all the different areas of science...even the soft science's  are becoming complex.That's more then likely why you see all the cut and paste links and name calling along with many descriptive adjectives being used as reference's.I feel sorry for people that have to do this,they really are defeating their own argument.
