Question:

Do you think some of the tricks done by Criss Angel are done in front of actors?

For instance, the trick he does where he covers himself with a towel or quilt then disapears into thin air. There is no concievable (sorry, i am a bad speller) way that this could be done without a camera trick and actors being present so they act like he really disapeared when in reality they just stopped the camera and he walked off screen then they started the camera again. Your thoughts??

  1. Listen to me....ok.......he's a FAKE. He may know some fancy parlor tricks and he may be good at them, but 95+% of what he does is fake.........wake up!

My Gawd...do people actually sit around drooling watching this garbage and think it's real? wtf

MAYBE not you...but come on....you actually have to ASK?!

No wonder our country votes for idiots and passes ridiculous and stupid laws.

STOP WATCHING TV AND GO OUTSIDE AND TALK TO PEOPLE!

  2. The actors you are talking about are called "stooges" - people who are in on the trick disguised as audience members.

It is part of the magician's tradecraft.

  3. Yes I think so.

  4. Remember this is filmed, and he gets to choose the camera angles. You don't know how many takes were done and how it was edited together.  He is a very good illusionist, and most magicians may at times use plants/stooges in the audience.

I know Penn&Teller do for at least one trick I've seen them perform a few times.

  5. no duh! mad tv makes fun of him because of that. and when he cut the woman in half they got a person without legs and a little person aka a midget.

  6. A good magician doesn't need camera tricks and assistants to do sleight of hand tricks. Robert Houdin, Harry Houdini and other magicians did impressive tricks before camera tricks were developed. Just because you can't understand how tricks are done doesn't mean no one does. Criss Angel wouldn't be much of a magician if he couldn't baffle the ordinary person.

  7. The camera person often walks moves around the back of the crowd watching.  When someones body gets in the way of seeing Criss this is when the changes happen - filming would be stopped for a moment while things were moved about/ the magic happened.

  8. As these kinds of illusions are based on mastering lies and deception there is no reason to beleive him when he says he isn't using plants and stooges.

I've seen footage on you tube explaining how film has been edited and not the 'one take, unedited' takes he claims.

There is also footage explaining how the trick you describe is performed.

In short I think virtually all of the tricks are done in front of people in on it.

  9. I don't know how Criss Angel does half of the things he does!  Did you see when he cut a woman in two?! That was creepy!!  I do, though, believe that they are illusions, but boy, he is good!

  10. Many of the tricks performed by Criss Angel are in front of actors. My high school percussion instructor told us this story about his annual trip to Las Vegas. Angel and his crew stopped his family and him and asked them if they would like to be in the show. His and another family came out in the show and he told us that the producers will ask them to look amazed about the trick was performed. The Mind Freak show is a bunch of bogus, but very entertaining.

  11. ummm... DUH !

Yes... that is why they are called tricks and not reality.

Good question, you got people thinking which is the same thing Criss Angel does - gets people thinking.

  12. why do you think people call it a trick? after a few shows, it was apparent that at least a few in the audience were faking it out.

  13. I think this may be a possibility.  I know David Blaine would use editing and other props (i.e. a crane to lift him off the ground) that weren't visible in the setup of the original trick.
