  1. I wonder the same thing sometime...i think some people are just so stuck in their misery that they end up enjoying it & even want other people to be miserable with them.

  2. some of these "unhappy" folks believe that those that are happy are phony.

Some feel it is important to be centered, so that when c**p hits the fan, as inevitably does,  they will be in the right "place" to handle it. Those that defend their negativity will often assert that if they look at the down or negative side of things, then all else can only Be an improvement.

This can only go on so long and eventually the unhappy people get so sick of it, realizing that they want happiness in their lives. The older people get, the more true this becomes. My advice is why wait? The longer one "waits/stalls" to work on their life the harder it will be to change. And once they do begin to try, they will say to themselves: "I should have done this a long time ago!"

    that's my spheel...

  3. yeah some people make it their lifestyle

  4. Well, why would they be afraid? Happiness is the key reason that we are alive. He wanted us to be happy. I suppose they might be, but just not know it, you know what I mean?

  5. It's the pain that follows happiness that some people are afraid of.  Events in a person's life can make emotional pain absolutely unbearable.

When you find the plateau of contentment, usually alone, then why subject yourself to the h**l of even trying to make things better, when what follows will inevitably hurt so bad you could scream.

  6. I've heard mostly men try to appear unhappy just so they can date the unhappy chicks. I guess unhappy chicks are more gullible.

  7. NO....afraid to be happy...is not quite right in my experience...its more cannot accept that reality allows you to be happy at times...and there is no need to constantly feel inadequate and having to strive for the sake of what others think..

  8. some people don't want to show happiness because they think that misery will gain them attention.

  9. They think that is not for them.

  10. i dont know about afraid to be happy but i do belive sum ppl dont know HOW to be happy

they get so used to feeling negative it becomes a habit

  11. yes

  12. yes and i agree with angelbab. Misery loves company.

But i think there are those who do not know how to happy.

Be it an abusive chilhood or some other trauma

  13. Yes,  I think some people thrive on drama.  My  friend is never happy with any guy she dates.  After a month of being  so in love, she  finds something wrong and dumps them.   The last  guy was too  blue collar.  He didn't have ambition. The guy before that she met  on my space  and thought  he lived to far away. He lived 45 minutes away.  He wouldn't move (they were dating 6 weeks) so she dumped  him.   She said "He wasn't committed  enough to the relationship".   Who moves after 6 weeks?  Please. He was a nice guy too.

  14. Absolutely.

  15. Happiness is an extreme.  Just as sadness is an extreme.  The goal for us should be between the two... but preferably a bit closer to the happiness end of the spectrum.

Some people are used to chaos in their lives, so when things are going smoothly, they find something to get unhappy about -- just so they will be in their comfort zone.  They wouldn't know what to do if they were happy.

And, some people are afraid of coming down off of a happiness high.
