Do you think some video game stories have just as much depth and emotion as a movie?

If you are an avid movie lover and feel emotions when you watch a movie then you probably like a good story with good acting etc. If you are a gamer you also probably say the same thing for some of the games you play. For example, Titanic, Pulp Fiction, Casablanca, Mice and Men, etc. are movies that made you cry, laugh, and scared. Now games like Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, and others do the same, they have elements of a love story, action, betrayal, cliff hangers, suspense etc.

So I ask you, do you think video games are now reaching the same level of storytelling as a movie?

because in my opinion some video games have beautiful stories that are very emotional and are very well told, just like there are games with mindless action and violence

same goes for movies, some have very deep storytelling and emotion, just like there are some that are just mindless action movies

so please!!!! tell me that you will give game stories a chance!!!!

  1. not to much of a player more than a fan of Metal Gear but it does have a pretty nice story line from what i've heard

and the GTA's have good stories too...lol

(haha I was watching balls of fury today)

  2. Yes. Halo definitely falls into that category... it's awesome because its a big action game, but there is a real emotional, awesome story behind it if you play campaign through and pay attention to the clips. Also, the amount of clip footage there is in each separate game is equivalent to a 2 and a half hour movie, I believe. Which rocks.

  3. I 100% agree with u, Games today have just as much Depth and emotion as a movie, The likes of MGS...I played 1-4 now and became so attached to the characters i cried at the end! Watching how the characters progressed, discovering their past...the anticipation of the next game, the next part of the story, Nail Biting stuff lol

  4. I love Spyro...that little dragon has a big heart. And he hovers!

  5. God of War had a pretty impressive story line. Sony did a wonderful job with explaining the story of Kratos. I think Metal Gear would also make an excellent movie if it were done right. I would love to see Fatal Frame made into a movie with a Japanese film-maker.

  6. considering that some movies have 0 depth or emotion (balls of fury, anyone) I would at least agree that some video games have more depth than many movies
