Having a debate with my friend, he seems to think people could be skilled enough to take on 4-5 opponents, I think he's wrong and he's been watching too many movies.

  1. I've seen it happen. The answer is yes.

Furthermore, I'd refrain from taking advice of anyone who compares and contrasts "hollywood" martial arts and normal martial arts. Anyone who has to compare or contrast the two doesn't know much about either.

  2. Not win, just survive. No one on the planet is capable of taking on a hand full of guys and dominating. But if your interested in defending yourself in those situations, the look up Krav Maga.

  3. It depends on the single persons skill and the skill of the multiple opponents. It's really hard even if they're untrained. It would take long years of training with high leveled multiple people and knowing your environment and how to use it. Are you going to face them head on? Are you going to run down an alley way to line them up? Just like there's much more to do than just punch in a fight-- There's much more to do than just stand and go head on against multiple people. Hope this helped.

  4. if you have a skilled trained fighter against 4 totally inexperainced fighters then its a possibillity.  As seen in the "mike v." fight that is linked on the first answer given, he would have lost if the guys he was fighting had any guts or experiance at all.  he didnt fight all 4 guys, he hit 2 of them and then they ran away, only one guy actually fought him and Mike V. was walking away from that guy as that guy was walking twords him.  If you have a skilled fighter vrs 3 or 4 guys who will actually put up a fight, the skilled fighter really doesnt have a chance.  That is too much t.v. talking..

  5. If the attackers don't know what they are doing, 4 is probably possible any more is unlikely unless a couple of them don't really want to be there and hang back.

  6. As mentioned before me it is very difficult and not likely. However it is absolutely possible. Generally in the real world you will not be fighting one person only. At least I've only been in a few fights where it was one on one. Usually 2 or more. Just so you know I always tried to avoid it to the point of running and screaming like a crazy person. Only when I would get chased or have somebody catch me would I fight. The fights were generally over quickly and of course I was not without injury, but the others were far worse, or afraid because how violent I became with the guy closest to me, or holding me.

So though it's extremely difficult and probably as rare to encounter this, it is ABSOLUTELY possible!..... Though anymore and you'd better have a gun or somewhere to hide that they can't get to.

  7. Win probably not. Survive the encounter and get away. More then likely if they have done some form of training aginst multiple people. Understand I am not talking about a street fight, I am talking about self defense where the goal is survival and getting away safely.

As for taking out 4-5 guys, not very likely in real life.

Edit for miyuki & kyojin - you need to quit living in fantasy land.

  8. It is possible but very unlikely. I' know many martial artists that are 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th degree black belts. The honest ones will tell you that 4 or 5 on one is not where you want to be.  The movies however can do anything including raise the dead so they can fight again. People let movies and TV influence their common sense.

Edit:  miyuki & kyojin  come on you can't be serious. Even if what you say is true the question was not asking us how proficient we are at destroying multiple attackers. The asker simply aske us if we thought it was possible.

  9. duhhhh there are a lot of ppl who are trained for this there are madd fighters in prison gangs and stuuf who id say could fight 50 not exagerating ive tooken 3 so 4 or 5 for a trained fighter should be easy an yes im trained but only like 6 years an yeah i work hard but ppl in the military would still **** me up

  10. Yes. Just watch this:

    It's legit.

  11. No this is not possible. Tell your friend he watches too many movies. The fact is movies are blown imagination and not reality. In real life a one on one against a skilled fighter is hard enough but 4 or 5. The odds are against you. The whole idea and strategy against multiple opponents is too get away unscathed. If you every watch in the movies when the hero is fighting multiple opponents he is beating them up 1 at a time and everyone else is just standing around. In real life you would be bum rushed, overwhelmed and stomped. And i will tell you another thing if i believe everything i seen in movies. Rambo takes Vietnam singlehanded and Philo Beddoe, Clint Eastwood in Every Which Way But Loose beats up motorcycle gangs.

  12. I think you can survive and get away. You might knock a couple of guys out in the exchange but that's assuming you are not fighting skilled opponents. Plus you have to be mastered in some fighting discipline.

When all is said and done, what will get you out of that situation is running. Martial arts with a little parkour training will help a lot.

Trying to ninja fight a bunch of guys will get you murdered.

  13. in a real life fight these days it is more than likely you would encounter a fight wich involved more than one person.

there are sooooo many varibles in a senario like that. in a controlled enviroment like sparring its relativly easy to fight 2 people, you just keep positioning the second person behind the first person by continuously moving and dealing with the first man.

But as we all know there is a very large difference in what happens in sparring and what happens in real life. That being said, under very unique circumstances, like beating 4 very drunk guys away from a chik there harasing and they dont have weapons and your completly sober  then yer but generally speaking murphys law will come into play and you'll never get that perfect scenario. So it all comes down to the particulars, in every single case.

  14. I have done that many times. When I was age 10, the 2 biggest boys in my school attacked me, and I kicked shiri on both. Years later, several times 3 to 5 men have attacked me. Once, my brother beat his 2nd wife. He wanted to barhop, and in the 3rd one, she was with 6 men who were wanting to avenge her. I just grinned and came toward them. They all ran. Maybe they had heard that I am a martial artist, or my size and manner scared them. In one Chinese New year program, I faced 3 men with swords while I was unarmed. I KO'd them all, and they could not touch me with their swords.

  15. Against 4-5 trained opponents, doubtful.

4-5 tough guys who have no idea how to block strikes, maybe.
