I honestly don't think Washington and Jefferson, as they were forming their army, thought less of their men for not going under the label "Citizens of the Democracy of the United States of America."  Those men in that army thought they were fighting for a more just citizenship within the British paradigm.  They were not actually fighting for a brand new paradigm.  But, they were on the "right" side whatever they called themselves because sometimes we define ourselves more by what we are NOT than by what we are.  Those men knew what they were NOT.  They were NOT tyranny.  And they were not fighting for democracy.  They were fighting for freedom from injustice and tyranny. Same for women today. No matter what we label ourselves, most women are not on the side of tyranny.  And even in lives labeled "non-feminist", women are becoming more rational and self-determining, and that's all that matters.  Not everyone has to call themselves a physician in order to believe in good health.

I don't consider myself a feminist per se. If I'm labeling myself it's usually egalitarian or something similar. I agree with some feminist ideologies and I disagree with some but I'm not wholly in support or against feminism itself.
