  1. Y don't u try becoming one and see whether can u AFFORD to be lazy or not???

  2. no! especially mentally

  3. If a person wanted to be a lazy teacher becoming a special education teacher is NOT the way to go.  In spite of what some think, sp. ed. teachers do NOT get paid anymore than other theachers.  As a special ed. teacher you have a lot more paperwork, a lot more conferences, a lot more parent communication, a lot more individual student interaction, a lot more variability in student ability and behavior, a caseload of students that you are responsible for, a lot more dealing with administration, and on top of that you do all of the regular teacher stuff (planning lessons, but individualizing. teaching study hall, but instead of just keeping things quiet you are not only helping the kids assigned to your study hall, but all those who drop in from other classes that need tests read or help with their assignments.)...so while I am sure that there are some lazy resource teachers, in general, if you want to be lazy, special ed. is not the best place to be.

***IEPs are not exclusive to resource students...ALL special education students must have an IEP...which means that at least once a year, the teacher must evaluate each student, set up a conference, write a new IEP with the parents, copy the IEP, distribute the IEP to every one of the teachers that work with the student, explain the IEP to any teacher who does not understand, defend the IEP when other teachers do not want to follow it, and then monitor the child's progress towards their IEP goals several times per year.

  4. What are you basing this on?

  5. yes??????????

  6. You're not talking about the special-ed teacher who work with kids that are/have mental retardation?

Not sure what you mean then.

  7. well i dont think so... they get pay more.. so they should work more!

  8. No, they're special.

  9. no...i think it is probably harder as that kind of teacher. but the teachers at the local school use to hit the kids with retardation.

  10. No!! WHat gives you the impression that special education teachers are lazy?

  11. I don't think they are my little brother is in special-ed and they have a hard time trying to teach the students!

  12. No, the student have ieps and they have to  follow the iep. Also we should all have respect for special ed teachers. They have a hard job and it is not  easy. I know because all my life i have been in special education classes because i have mild mental retardation and deafness and bunch of other special needs. I also hhave adhd which makes learning harder for me with all of my special needs.

  13. So who are you taking about then? LOL

  14. No, they have to deal with IEP's (bleh) and the fact that the children cannot learn like "regular" people so they have to accomodate every child individually.  Its a huge pain.  I'd never do it, and i'm glad others get a lot of satisfaction out of helping.

  15. ?

I think you need to specify more, because that's about all I know on Special-Education.

  16. Not at All

coz while bringing light for those who are weak they have to be on that grass root level to taech the special one they are the real contributors in bringing ease so they shouldn't be called lazy

  17. I am a Special Education teacher of the moderate/severe disabilities. The only time I ever sit down during the day is to eat lunch and when the kids finally go home. I am exhausted by days end. I'm up to my eye balls in paperwork and other nonsense I must deal with on a daily basis. I do think most people wouldn't last a week at my job just based on the sheer physical part couple with the mental aspects of it. I do think people that teach RSP have it easier. They don't have a full class to deal with and can pull a few students out at a time to work with. I wouldn't call them lazy but they certainly have it easier. If it is any consolation, RSP teachers are being phased out in the county where I teach for a learning center style of teaching mild/moderate students.

  18. No, but it would depend on the person now wouldn't it?

I had trouble in math and I went to resource when I was in grade 9. I got so much help in learning to organize myself and to find different ways to study and learn that I went from resource-to applied classes and then off to acedemic and now i'm taking university level statistics and I really owe it to that teacher for having helped me realize my own intelligence (that I just learned differently) and obviously to myself for not giving up. B.c Kids can be lazy as well, and I wasn't.
