  1. It can be,if it is done in a place where innocent people can get in the way. There was just a bad accident last week here in Maryland where spectators were struck by a car after watching a race. The messed up thing is the police want to find and charge the racers even though they didn't hit and kill anyone. They were long gone when a car came up with no lights on and struck a crowd that gathered to watch.Killing several of them. This gave the street race scene a big black eye.at least around here. The whole situation and the fact that they didn't charge the actual killer with ay crime does not seem right, kinda like this was a setup to stop street racing by the authorities

  2. We have a stretch of road where we live and people use it for street races, ever since they have started this, one girl rolled her boyfriends car, got real hurt, and these guys were racing there bikes, lost control and the one is dead,so it is dangerous, because it is dark, back road, other people get mixed up in the end results,go to the drag strip, that's what I do,much safer. And I think when they get spooked thinkin the cops are coming they are sloppy trying to get out of there, and they always have someone in trouble or messin the cars up.Not really worth it.

  3. Yes, because you have a bunch of immature crazy people that don't know how to handle cars at these speeds and all they have to do is just go to a local drag strip and get their jollies.

  4. Not dangerous...........DEADLY! You are not racing in a controlled environment, where road surfaces, crowd control and safety measures are present. Also, the drivers are amateurs and don't realize the risks they face.

I realize also that this is "fun" to do for young persons, but the added impression that you are "invincible" adds to the danger factor.

It's great to release the energy of a powerful car and impress others and yourself, but taking a few lessons from a racing expert (for example    www.cssc.ca    has courses in circuit racing to teach you how to do it properly)....

I can't state any "pros" to this statement of yours......

  5. Street racing has unfortunately been "glamorized" by the movies like "The fast and the furious" and others. Kids who have just gotten their license see the excitement and don't think of the risk or the consequences. They get a car and juice it up and then think it's OK to go out on the public roadways and challenge other kids to race through traffic. I think anyone caught doing this should have their license and car taken away for a minimum of a year for a first offense. If they get a second, take the car and sell it at auction and remove their license for 3 years. These penalties should be automatic with no appeal.

  6. dont listen to him it just like riding a bike everybody stacks it once or twice in there life thats how u learn. best idea is to go out bush cause all youll kill out there is yourself of a tree

  7. Yes it is dangerous.

Just last week over half a dozen people were killed in one street racing related accident.

Street racing is glamorized in the movies such as the Fast and the Furious.  In reality it is dangerous and deadly.

There are no pros to doing it, just cons.  It is dangerous, deadly and illegal.

  8. Of course it is!

  9. Street racing is an illegal event.

It attracts people who think they can drive or are looking for thrills.  I would say 99% of street racers have no concept or care of how dangerous the practice is. And the fatalities  show for it.

Normally the idiots loose control and kill some other people who's only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Racing should be an organised  event in a proper built area, i.e Bulldog bash, Santa Pod or on a race track. That way if any fool with more ego than skill looses control and plughs head-long into the barrier into a ball of flames- its only his stupid *** thats wiped out.

  10. Yes, it is dangerous, all forms of racing are.  The difference with street racing is that street racers don't take as many safety precautions as professional racers.

Professional racers all have cars that are designed to incinerate, or at least take most of the the impact, in a crash, which means that the car is absorbing more of the impact, and a crash cage that is designed to protect the driver from harm.  Many street racers only enhance the performance of the engine, drive train, and tires to get better times and often neglect safety feature that could save their lives in the event of a crash.

Pro's also have specifically designed restraining belts and head restraint to keep the driver more securely in the seat and protected then what most street racers have in their cars (which is often little or no more then a standard equipment seat belt).

Street races also often happen with little notice (usually less then a few days) and since street racing is illegal, emergency crews are only called in when they are needed, resulting in a delay of care and can cost lives.  Bystanders are often only a few feet from the racing cars as they are speeding down the course putting them in danger.  Professional have races scheduled weeks to months in advance on closed-off courses with the crowd safely behind a tall re-enforced fence and emergency crews on site for any crashes that happen.

  11. It has always been dangerous. It used to be just a form of entertainment but now it is a major offense. If caught now you could face major penalties. The adrenaline rush is just not worth it anymore. Take it to the drag strip.

  12. When it's dangerous to only the drivers no one should care.

When those same drivers endanger the lives of others* then yes, it is dangerous and should be swiftly snuffed by police.

*bystanders, public streets and highways, as well as residential areas

  13. Eight people killed in the U.S.A last week at an illegal Drag Race !!! That's why Drag Strips were invented! Enough said!
