Question:

Do you think tats say something about a person's character?

I have a couple tattoos, but the only one that is out in the open is on my wrist. My wife is a SAHM and is looking for a child to watch during the day. WE have gotten a few responses and should be meeting with parents soon so they can meet us and the kids and see the house, etc. I'm just afraid that they might see my tattoo and think badly of us. What is your honest opinion of tats? I'm also thinking af getting a full sleeve so any feedback would be helpful!

  1. I love tattoos and would never judge someone who has them, because those of us that have them are such a huge variety of people!  However, I do get judged because of mine and that is to be expected and something I have to live with - like it or not, thats the way I have chosen to be.  I think you will find that parents looking for a carer are going to be focused on more things other than the fact that you have a tattoo on your wrist...in fact I think you would be hard pushed these days to find a young parent who doesn't have a few themselves.

  2. Your ink often times shows what you seek in your life or your interests.  Your actions are the only thing that shows your character.

People who view your tattoo's could easily confuse the two though.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Wear long sleeves. If they ever see your tattoos when their kid is in your care, either they will have seen how well you handle children and what body art form you're into doesn't matter. Or they'll stop letting you take care of their kid. But I doubt the latter would realistically happen.

When I see tattoos on someone I feel more comfortable around them and have common ground to talk about. But a lot of people from my parents generation (and a bit after) don't feel the same way and that may be the generation that you'd be dealing with.

  4. I don't think you can judge a person on a tattoo unless they have a bunch of huge tattoos all over their body and it just looks like they're one BIG GIANT tattoo. I've known people with kids and they have a couple tattoos

  5. i don't think they say anything, but when i see some one with a tat, i think bad *** or something.

    ha ha lol

but if they judge you for your tattoo and not your personality, it's totally their loss.

  6. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are judgemental. Never judge a book by its cover. I am mostly sleeved and have a career that will not permit me to show my tattoos. I am also a girl scout leader of a troop of 17 girls.  The fix is simple, wear long sleeves. You can find light long sleeved shirts for the summer. I have found that once most people get to know you the tattoos don't matter. The only time I really cover my tattoos is while I am at work. My girl scouts enjoy looking at them and their parents aren't bothered by them. They know I am a decent person. I hope this helps. Good Luck !!!

  7. Anyone who judges someone based on just having a tattoo is stupid. People from all walks of life get tattoos. It doesnt mean ur a bad person for having a tattoo and someone who thinks that needs a reality check. In fact many tattoos are dedictated to a loved one like mine is to my grandmother......how is that "badass" like many people like to think of tattoos? lol they make me laugh. Tattoos are interesting and mean different things to different people they dont mean their a bad person. Many people are actually getting tattooed these days. good luck.

  8. personally i don't think tattoos say anything about a person's character If you are worried about it, just wear long sleeves or a watch to cover up your wrist I work in daycare and have 3 tattoos that are visible but my piercings(eyebrow and nose) draw more negative feedback than the tattoos

  9. I personally would pick somebody with tattoos over somebody without tattoos if they were otherwise equally qualified.

Its a matter of personal opinion.  I dont think they say anything bad- but I have tattoos so I'm biased.

If you get a full sleve, just wear long slever shirts, and make sure it ends by the wrist.

  10. I personally think that if someone wants to judge you based on a tattoo...they obviously are not the type of person that I would care to associate with.

I don't have any myself, but am planning on one.

I don't think that you should worry, be honest, and things will go better. If you want to address the fact that you have tattoos with the potential clients, feel free, but I wouldn't offer the info unless they asked straightforward.
