  1. Sadly, I don't think real technology is going to match up with many of the things depicted in BTTF2. 2015 is only seven years off, and I can't see us getting flying cars, cold fusion reactors fueled by household waste, or the all-important hoverboard by then (though director Robert Zemeckis had some people going for a while after his jokey claim that the hoverboards were real but too dangerous to sell to the public!). Though of the things depicted in the movie, a few have indeed come true. "Smart" homes with computers to run the lighting, heating, entertainment and so on are here right now, as are fingerprint and retinal identity scanners. The scene with Marty Jr. picking a selection of TV channels from hundreds - we do have hundreds of channels on satellite or cable now. The kids in the diner dismissing an old arcade game you play with your hands as a "baby's toy" - there are games now, albeit primitive ones, that read brainwave patterns to manipulate things. The holographic shark outside a cinema advertising a Jaws sequel - there are numerous research efforts into volumetric displays.

Otherwise, I can see things seven years from now not being a whole lot different from now, just with better mobile phones and more electric cars. Bah, reality can be so tedious sometimes!

  2. Note that flying car in the film is actually a Citroen DS, manufactured between 1959 nd the mid 70's,so beautiful and always ahead of its time. So, go figure

  3. I don't think so, what was portrayed for 2015 was back in the 80's, and just like in the 50's the thought by now we would have flying cars, menu's adjusted to our calorie consumption, and hybrid foods. I think we will have some* of what they thought we would have in the 80's by about say, 2030-2050. I know it's awhile away, but maybe it'll be before then. After all they used to say we wouldn't go back to the moon until 2030 and now they say it will be before 2025.

  4. Prbly not.

  5. I don't think so. 2015 is not that far away and we have not discovered an energy source that can defy the law of gravity and hover like that skateboard.

We'll probably still have the Biff's of the world though. Stupid, stupid Biff.

    P.S. I love your name.
