Question:

Do you think that 17 years of age is a good time to get a talent agent?

Okay, so right now I'm 13 (14 in a few months) and I can play the piano, recorder and am learning some guitar this year. I can also sing (my passion, I can sing just like Demi Lovato, but with a completely different voice and I have been told that I have a distinct voice) and I am athletic (I'm good at running) I have barely any experience in acting so I don't know if I'm good at it (I get small parts in shows and I get stage fright when acting) so I think I should wait a few years until I become more confident with it to get an agent. I have had professional training in singing and piano and plan to continue them until I think I'm really good. I'm hoping to try new sports, get really into acting and maybe a little dancing. I also might try modeling soon. I've also been told I'm pretty and different-looking (if that helps) The thing is, I have a problem with my teeth that cannot be fixed until I'm 17 so that's partly why I want a talent agent then. Do you think I'll be good enough by then to get one? Advice? Tips?

If I don't get a talent agent or if I have a change of plan, I'm hoping to become a singer and write my own music. Please note I'm note in this for the fame, but I just think this is something that I'd like to do for most of my life. I actually don't mind if I don't get this dream, but it would be nice. :)

I am also a Christian so if God doesn't want me to that kind of thing, I'll do what he says.

So, do you think this could be possible or do you think I'm in my own bubble. :) Hehe, thanks.

P.S I don't evne live in America, I live in the UK, and it's nowhere near London.

  2. You'll be 10 times better than your are now by the time you're 17.  And being different looking is great!  It makes you a more specific, unique type that few others can compete with.  Talent agents always need unique types.

Have you ever considered moving to Los Angeles, CA?  It really is the place to be if you want to make it big like Demi Lovato on the Disney Channel or something.  Also, there is a great music scene here for singer/songwriters too.

Just keep training, figure out your strengths, narrow down what you really love to do, and you'll be on your way.  Ask your parents for their love and support too.  They will be invaluable in helping you along the way.

  3. I think you should narrow your focus on to one or two areas that you would REALLY enjoy working at. For example, get good at the guitar and even better at the piano and singing and focus on getting your music career started. Once that takes off then you should try acting or modelling. Trying to do everything at once is going to be a) exhausting and b) expensive.

PS: I don't think you can get a talent agent for sports :S

    Best of luck, my friend!

  4. I'm seventeen right now and my advice is WAIT. You still need time to mature and figure out exactly what it is you want to do. I'm taking a particular interest in your question because you aren't like the other girls your age on this forum asking how they can be on Disney channel and be the next Hannah Montana. You aren't looking to be famous and that's a wonderful thing; it means you want to follow your passions. The best way to do that is to go to college (or university as I think you folks in the UK call it. I’m not sure I “talk good American”! Haha) and major in music or vocal performance. Music seems to be your strength so continue with taking lessons, you can never learn too much.

Best of luck to you. =)

  5. I think you should do whatever makes you happy. Don't put any limits on yourself (like getting an agent at 17) becuase there are no absolutes in this business. You could be extremely talented and still not get an agent at 17 for a variety of reasons, none of which actually have to do with you.

So, if you like acting and are interested in doing more of it, do it. Sign up for some classes (outside of school), joing your school drama club, see if there are any community theatre around you could audition for.

Keep up with your singing and songwriting as well. You're still very young so you don't have to make any life decisions as this point, but you can develop your skills in these areas so that in a couple years, when you're in a position to begin pursuing a career in either (if you wish. Heck, you may have a complete change of heart and decide to become a vet! Don't box yourself in!), you'll have more skill and experience to draw upon than your peers.

    Good luck!!

  6. i think u should become a singer! that is a great idea 4 u..... u can play instruments, sing, write music.... u would be perfect!! i do not recomend u getting a talent agent because u dont know if u can act and u get stage fright so u probably wont be a gr8 actress, but go with the singing thing!

    best of luck
