  1. Never ever ever buy a car for $300.00 a month.  Buy it only by the selling price and NEVER a monthly.  Average miles are 15,000 a year.  15,000 x 4 = 60,000 is average miles.

If you bought it $300.00 for 1 month, it's a good buy.

If you bought it $300.00 a month for anthything more 24 months is too much.

  2. Maybe you did, but there are so many variables to consider. I have about 84,000 miles on my '04 Optima and it still drives well. I think that if you have fairly bad credit, you paid a decent monthly payment. It's not the best monthly payment, but it's probably just because of your credit history. If you have excellent credit, then you did get ripped!

I love my Optima  and believe it is well worth the money I've been paying. I admit that my payment is actually $325/month, but the car runs really well and it is built as good or better than a Toyota! Kia is one of the best car companies out there in my opinion.

  3. the average milage is 15000 a year.  so four years old should be 60000.

i bought a 06 wrangler in 06 and my payments were only $299 a month.

so yes i think you paid to much and it has to many miles on it.

  4. it's a lot for a 2004. You could have bought an 08 for like 250 a month.

  5. On modern cars, the maintenance is more important that the mileage counter.

There are 4 most important maintenance items in your engine

    (1) engine oil (3k - 5K miles)

    (2) tranny oil (30K miles)

    (3) coolant (3 years)

    (4) timing belt (60K miles)

Just keep those maintenance and your engine and tranny will be problem free.  I have a 94 Civic with 187K miles and the engine + tranny + suspension runs like new.  I get 41 MPG (doing 72 MPH).  I can get even better MPG doing 55.

    Good maintenance pays off.

    Good Luck...

  6. You'd expect to see 48,000 miles on a vehicle that old, so the mileage is extremely high.

$300 a month seems high also, unless it's a short term loan, in the 24 month range.

  7. It's a KIA and you just got hosed. Good luck, you'll need it.
