Do you think that Arsene's youth policy is a failure ??

Well....do you ? Arsenal have gone 3 seasons without a trophy, but they came close to winning something every year didn't they ? Champions League Final in 2006, Carling cup in 2007, 4 points short at the end in 2008 May. Wenger has done an amazing job at the club till now, only thing was he couldn't win a trophy in the last 3 years and that was because of the youth & inexperience in the team. Coming close is one thing, but what matters is trophies, he hasn't won us[Arsenal] any and some fans think this Wenger's youth policy is a 100% failure. Is that failure for you ? Try to get what I'm saying 3 years without nothing is failure but thats not the question.

  1. I really think that its high time wenger buy some experienced campaigner in his midfield. He always has a better start but the works only half done!!!

  2. Yes it is. Face facts. We'v won nowt for 3 years now and that aint good enough

  3. yep i believe so

  4. I don't think it's a failure.

its better working for the title then to spending loads and buyin your way to glory!

also, when you were younger, kids always wanted to play football when they were older, but now when everyone is older they are all complaining about young people playing!

    =]

  5. cheers jk_thegooner, awesome article, gives a good insight into the man

I do not think his youth policy is a failure. I do think he's a victim of his own success, turning Arsenal into the second best EPL team of the past 15 years whilst not having the rich benefactor other clubs do. This now means that a season without a trophy is a failure, which shows what awesome work he has done for the club.In fact, if he had been at most other clubs they would be hailing him for his work and youth policy and balancing the books.

For the Arsenal fans doubting him, who else would you want managing us ? Ramos, Benitez, O' Leary ? Think of what we've become under Wenger, even if he's insisting on youth policy ahead of experience

  6. wait for the team to gel bud..no one has a divine right of a trophy..as you said near misses the team is still young and i believe their time will come ..

  7. i am an arsenal fan so might be biased.

i never have doubted the great man and even in 2007 when he put out a youth side against chelsea i was pleased that he done so because they were the ones who got us there so they deserved to play in the final. But after the game against fulham yesterday i have started to doubt him because how poorly we played and what he done to the side. He put eboue, ( who shouldnt even be in the arsenal squad because he is s*** and a cheat, centre-midfield when it clearly didnt work in the previous game against west brom and took djourou out who was man of the match for me against west brom and replaced him with an unfit toure. so the point im trying to make is not that youth is the failure but the actuall players. i mean adebayor, eboue, senderos all have to go and we need to open the wallet a little bit.

  8. Had Eduardo not been brutally hacked down last season; things might have been different.

It disrupted their flow.  And I don't support them, I'm just trying to be fair to Wenger who is an exellent manager with a proven track record.  Bear with him a little longer is what I say.

  9. His whole policy is a disaster. He hasnt a clue. Hopeless. If he applied even a little basic commonsense he could make his team win ten more matches per year. He seems stuck in a dream that wishing makes winners.

  10. yes i think he's a r****d too

  11. well, its better than chelsea who buys no one except old experience players. Look at Anelka.

  12. depends what you mean by failure.  if you mean winning trophies then yeah its been a failure recently.  but overall, considering how much other clubs spend on players, considering arsenal play the best football on their day, considering the number of unheard of young players hes bought and successfully developed, wengers policy has been an amazing success.  arsenal need another vieira type player to beef up their lightweight midfield

  13. I don`t think that Arsene's youth policy is a failure,it is good to have youth players but also the team need some big player like *henry" before  to give confident to youth player

  14. absolutely!!

i dont know why wenger still doesnt realize the fact that his team is so inexperienced as any other team on this planet...whenever they lose he criticizes the opposite team's players..year after year since the departure of bergkamp, henry, viera, reyes, pires and ljungberg ,wenger has been so adamant that he's decided to buy young players with a view to make them stay forever at the club..

with the loss of flamini, lehman, gilberto and hleb..chances of wenger winning another title in the near future is under debate..

unless he buys experienced players who can deliver in big games..he will always be remembered as a manager who couldnt deliver when needed him the most!

  15. as chazzer said, youth is not the real problem here.

ok we all know some say our players lack any experience cause they are too young but this policy has actually helped us a lot last season

the real problem is our individual players some of whom dont give their best and lose the ball easily to opponents and basically make mistakes that arent allowed to be made

another problem is that wenger tends to buy players ,though cheap, arent really needed in the team, for example silvestre do we even need that guy?

some might say yes but ferguson knew what he was doing when he sold him to us.what we need is a player like david villa or arshavin, some big names and wenger doesnt seem to be bothered to buy any quality players.he just goes for the cheap ones.

instead of buying silvestre we should have kept the money so that we can buy a big name

the youth policy is not 100% failure.its partially the managers fault too

  16. If say, Chelsea or ManUtd had spent as little as Arsenal did over the past 3 seasons, Arsenal would have won a treble twice.

  17. I don't think it's a failure.

I know I'm going to get hammered for this, but I'd prefer spending little, working hard, playing great football and getting a trophy once every so often to spending loads, playing Liverpool style football and winning a lot more (which they don't obviously!)

  18. What has winning nothing in three years and the youth team got to do with each other? you don't field a first eleven of youth members, sepearte questions and no our youth players are some of the best around

  19. Chelsea have an unlimited budget and Man UTD have about 30 mil to spend every year. Does that answer your question?

The top two are buying success.

  20. hes chose to spend little, as the money has always been there available from the chairman

its a good policy, however this season they have sold most of the armour/steel in midfield (gilberto and flamini), big losses

liverpool have mascherano, man utd carrick/hargreaves, chelsea ballack/essien for this, i feel this is were arsenal will fall short

still a great manager for transforming average players into world beaters

  21. Read this article from the Independent. It will give you more of an insight, not only on his philosophy, but also his ethics and reasons why he has taken the route he has done.

Not that it's the right one.  I believe he needs to employ a director of football, so that he can concentrate on managing the team.

    Enjoy.

  22. Well lets look at it this way..... No Trophies for 3 seasons OK but wut happened during the about 5 KEY PLAYERS LEFT THE CLUB!

    1. Thierry Henry

    2. Patrick Viera

    3. Robert Pires...... the list goes on

And that happend before the youth Policy was really well esablished when Viera ledt Fabregas was in charge of the midfield at just 18!!!!!! Hleb had just gotten to the club and only a couple of starting players were over 19 years of age, Clitchy Diaby, Fabregas, etc.. were 18, 19, 17, and playing a full season!

For the last two seasons Arsenal has been ravaged by injuries Van Persie, Rosicky, Diaby, Eduardo, Fabregas(just recently), I mean C'mon! Who enticipated that Flamini and Hleb 2 very experienced players would leave the club so suddenly!

If u think about it is only this year that the policy is really starting with a full stride!

If Arsenal plays Bad THIS PARTICULAR SEASON that will answer your question! Other than that it in my opinion is has been a success!

Even Sir Alex is playing lots of youngster especially on the first day!
