Yes, that's 35, THIRTY FIVE percent. Coming from a company that gets most of it's gas from the North Sea anyway. huh... herm doesn't that gas belong to you and me anyway?

How disappointed are you about this news?

  1. They are just a bunch of thieves. MASSIVE profits and no concern for us.

  2. No.However they lie about it, the reason they're doing it is to increase profits. The government should stop them doing it but wont.

  3. it is alot of money, iam one of their customers, i am dreading the winter bills

  4. Every customer of Bristish Gas should find an alternative supplier.  That would be interesting!!

  5. Its disgusting they are all doing it now, the Head of British Gas was on the news trying to justify it. Even when shown people who can't afford other bills never mind the power he didn't give a d**n , just kept going on about how we need to be more energy efficient.  I bet he doesn't pay for his gas and electric, its just one big excuse to make a profit.

The forecast for winter deaths if this carries on is high and he just pushed that idea away as rubbish. You would love to grab these big wigs kicking and screaming into the real world.

Such large increases should not be allowed.

The government could take action to stop this but they don't !!

I am not a British Gas customer but know that mine will no doubt put theirs up and I won't be able to afford an increase, with other prices going up to. Looks like my internet will be the first to go its going to be a luxury I can't afford.

  6. Unfortunately, the gas in the North Sea is running out & we are having to pipe more & more gas in from places like Norway & Russia, so the price of wholesale gas has gone through the roof. It doesn't matter who you buy your gas from, they will all be hiking the price similarly. They are businesses not charities!

  7. Gordon will be out of a job before Christmas.

If you are going to stick 35% on gas and don't forget electric is going up aswell, do you really think the binmen are going to settle for a poxy 2.75%.

We'll all be ripping out the gas fires and going back to burning sea coal and old carpets this winter.

As for the muppets proposing a state funeral for Thatcher; if she doesn't die soon it will be cheaper than sending her to the crem.

Nationalisation of utilities is the only answer to the problem and who is the silly cow that sold them off in the first place.

I'm not disappointed in the news, I'm p****ed off that not one elected Labour MP is standing up for the people that voted for them. Mine has lost my vote.

  8. These people are highway robbers, without the masks.

The government does not care one way or the other.

When was the last time a member of Parliament had to worry about the cost of utilities?

    Roll on the revolution!

Ths is the ideal time to re-nationalise the industries that Thatcher sold off on the cheap to her crooked friends.

These industries were built up on public money!

  9. That makes me sick, the British gas man that came round our street was saying if we switched to them they would hold their current price until 2010

  10. No they don't and I'm not paying the increase.

  11. It is an absolute disgrace, other companies will obviously follow suit. It's time the government intervened. Heating/cooking in one's home is an essential commodity. Houses are built nowadays with no chimneys or even houses who had them are long gone so even going back to basics of an open fire is not an option. Afraid I am not a good leader but if someone would start a serious protest I would back them all the way.  Should also like to add that I don't have a huge house but it is old and has high ceilings (have been here since 1970) and in my town this week there have been 2 different gas companies trying to get people to change over by capping their electricity and gas charges. I spoke to them both, they asked what I pay now and ended up telling me they couldn't really help me.  Therefore are they only trying to get people to change over to them who they can actually make money off???

  12. No I think it is completely unfair. My family have been with British Gas for years, and this is how they treat us?!

They can stick their gas up their ***
