Question:

Do you think that Djokovic will overtake Nadal in the #2 spot?

They have a probable semifinal meeting in Hamburg, and the winner will get the #2 spot (obviously Nadal will stay). Djokovic is only 225 points away from Nadal. Nadal has stated that it would be logical if Djokovic took the number two spot.

I believe that he will! Go Novak!

  1. he might. as long as he gets momentum, nadal gets frustrated easily.

  2. Novak Djokovic doesn't deserve it?! That's not true... I wouldn't be doing his best in every game and he wouldn't win tournaments if he didn't deserve it... Nole deserves to be #2 as much as Rafa does... He may even be #1 if Federer doesn't straighten up his game... To all you Djokovic haters... I'm not seeing you winning any grandslams...

  3. Yes thats true Nadal has said its only logical that Novak will overtake him. However i hope this does not happen and im pretty sure Rafa wont let it, he`ll do his best to keep his #2 ranking :) After all Novak doesnt deserve it !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. h**l, yeah , he will, I'm starting to like him more, by listening to his haters, here on Yahoo!, especially Terminator, soo pathetic!! Thnx for the compliment, Terminator!

  5. yes

  6. That's not far to happen. Rafa even admitted to himself that it is likely that Djoko will overtake him soon. Though he said this might happen at the Frenchy or Wimby, i guess it will come earlier than expected. I just hope Rafa can stick to that spot as long as possible.

  7. It will happen pretty soon. But, I hope Rafa can come back and take that #1 spot, even if it's for a short while. He deserves it. I think they are separated by 310 points. Lets see if this exchange happens before or after the french open.

  8. I'm on the fence with Djokovic, but it's looking more and more like he might take over the number two spot from Rafa, he's not very far behind on points from Rafa. I always figured Novak might overtake the number two, we'll see what happens this week at Hamburg.

  9. It is most likely that he overtakes spot #2. He might even overtake #1 in a few years if he keeps playing like he is and Federer keeps losing the tournaments.

  10. I don't see it the other way.It is just impossible for Nadal to defend all the points and in the same time for Novak to lose in the early stages of the tournaments ahead:Hamburg,Roland Garros,Wimbledon. If not soon then by the end of the grass season. It all depends of Djokovic,if he plays well, which he does at moment then there are sure to be some changes in the top 3.I would not be surprised to see the end of the year finishing with Djokovic/Nadal - #1 and Federer - #3.Time will tell.

  11. He might but I really don't want him to. Nadal is better. GO NADAL!

  12. The way he's playing, he has a very good chance. However, if he doesn't do it by Wimbledon, it's going to be hard. Rafa and Roger have a lot of points to defend at Hamburg, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon, and if any of them doesn't reach the finals of any of these 3 events, the gap between Djoko and the two of them will narrow. However, after Wimbledon, it's going to be tougher: Rafa didn't win any tourneys after Stuttgart (right after Wimbledon)... and Djoko has to defend points at Cincinnati (champion), U.S. Open (finalist)... so it's going to be tough.

  13. I agree with xno1rafafanx Novak certainly doesn't deserve it and Rafa is such a fighter that he won't let it happen unless his foot is too injured still.

  14. hope not.. nadal deserves it more...

  15. Yes. Novak got 125 points last year for hamburg while Nadal got 350 points. Basically, the maximum requirement for Novak is to beat Nadal.

    W 500

    F 350

    SF 225

If Novak makes the final and Nadal loses in the semifinals, the ranking will be like this: Novak, 5350, Nadal 5310. All he has to do is to do better than nadal in hamburg.

If that doesn't happen, should both of them make the french open final, Novak will be the new #2 even if he doesn't win.
