  1. thats what i am hoping since we are going this summer for our honeymoon! we wanted to go to tahiti but too far of a flight from where we live. from pictures i have seen on the internet the dominican looks pretty exotic and secluded and thats what we wanted for our honeymoon. it took us two months to decide on from either the dominican, cancun, bahamas and jamaica.

  2. I don't see why not, from what I've seen, the country has beautiful beaches, hot people, the world's second best handmade cigars, and great merengue music. Not to mention it has the Caribbeans highest mountain.

  3. I must say that Stella 39 explained it very well and described the Dominican Country and people perfectly. I can only add that this is a very beautiful country where everybody can find something that amaze him/her. Come and visit this wonderland and you will have finally something to remember you'll never forget. Happy to help you

  4. I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.

Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.

  5. Yes, I think the Dominican Republic can be very exotic if you explore the island. The culture is very different than the USA.

Dominican people are by nature, friendly and warm-hearted. You will usually find them to be smiling and quite charming.

The spirit and charm of the Dominican Republic is captured in its music, food, and national pastimes. Known for its professional winter baseball, handcrafted cigars, and annual music festivals, the culture of the Dominican Republic is never stodgy, or boring. It's always an artful and colorful expression of life.

I think it's "a must visit" island for all that enjoy traveling.

    Happy travels)

  6. If the definition of "exotic" is:

"From another part of the world; foreign,"

and "Intriguingly unusual or different; excitingly strange,"

I would say that the Dominican Republic definitely fits the bill.

Well, that is, as long as you're not yourself now living in an amazingly beautiful, scenic and exhilarating country with warm, kind, friendly people (who are the smoothest dancers in the world).  If you live somewhere like that now, consider yourself extremely lucky.  The D.R. would seem "same old-same old" to you.  ;  )

  7. I would say no. The Dominican Republic has the same climate as most Caribbean Islands and it is primarily a developing country with many beach resorts.  To me exotic would be a locale with a distinct culture that is off the beaten path. Since the Caribbean is so close to the USA, flights are commonly available to the USA and with the exception of Cuba, all islands are open to U.S. tourism.  Furthermore, many operations in such popular toruist hotspots as Cancun, Puerto Plata, and Montego Bay are run by multinational corporations that are based overseas.

Exotic locations for tourists include Bali (Indonesia), Tahiti, Zanzibar (Tanzania), the Seychelles, the Maldives, Easter Island (Chile), and Cuba (due to the fact of the 50 year old U.S. embargo).
