  1. Oh, God, asking this on Yahoo! Answers isn't going to get you the most varied results.

Racist attacks are rare. They are unheard of in my town, which is a fast growing suburb just outside of Manchester. Even in central Manchester they are definitely uncommon.

I was listening to a podcast this morning; an essay by a Pakistani student who moved here to study. He is grateful for the oppurtunities that he has been given, but feels there is little to no 'British' spirit in the Pakistani communities over here. This is why they feel alienated and why the segregation continues. There are large 'foreign' communities - fully veiled women are no longer a rare sight, for example.

England is more tolerant than the US (look at g*y marriage, and the abolition of slavery in 1807 over here compared with the different 'services' for different colours in the 1940s in the US), even though it is true we still have problems. If you come here to study, don't worry.

  2. Racially motivated attacks are rare, but nothing new. They happen to whites, blacks, asians and everybody else.

Doubt causes differences in the first place- Carpe Diem, mon ami.

  3. Do not judge our culture by one isolated incident I'm sure that it is as safe to study here as elsewhere in the western world ., and do not judge England by a load of bad mannerd and cowardly people on the net . you see its safe to bad mouth somebody on the other side of the world they never have to face them . We in this country and I'm sure in your country have many inadequate people of low mentality who see it as clever , take no notice of them and think of them as silly children who have never grown up .

  4. its not safe dont come we're bursting at the seams as it is

  5. Oh stop it. That is an isolated incident.

Arabs and in particular Muslims live a life of Riley in the uK.

Why don't you come on over, Valerie.

  6. no its not! go somewhere else please, no room!! wheyyy!!

  7. Babe England is not safe for anybody to study.

  8. It is no save but you don't have much choice.

You need to struggle for your right and earn others respect.

  9. hasting has to be the worst place to even go there and study.

its not even multicultured place and is very very chavvy place.

he should have studied in brighton, it is very mulitcultured place and there are so so so many foreign students there.

  10. may not be any more

  11. not particularly safe

  12. You should leave at once. You are not safe. Go back to your homeland and study there. Why do you want to leave your homeland?

  13. If an Arab looks like an Arab in England, then it is not AT ALL safe.

  14. YES VERY UNSAFE THEY HAVE FLYING RATS THERE THAT WILL EAT YOU.. wooow dont try it i swear.. they nearly got me

  15. Why not study in a muslim country?  Why is it muslims don't wish to live, work and study in muslim countries?

I am a christian and I have no wish to go and live and work in a muslim country - especially as I am female.

Why do they come here when a sizeable proportion of them moan about our laws and customs and want to change everything?

If I lived in a muslim country I would learn to fit in not try and change the place.

I respect the laws and customs in their land they should respect ours and not try and change us.

  16. Unfortunate that a few stray incidents take place here and there!

  17. I've never been to Hastings, but I don't think there are any colleges of distinction there anyway.

If he went to Oxford of Cambridge or one of the major colleges then they're used to having students from all over the world so it would be rare to have an attack.

I think in places like Hastings there are large numbers of illegal immigrants who claim to seek asylum and don't even work or study, so it creates tension. The local people think they're taking up all the social housing etc. I wouldn't go to South of the river London either, as there are many poor immigrants from Africa there who still act like they live in Africa and the kids go around in gangs with no future, because their schools have hippy teachers who encourage their behaviour. White people are more likely to be attacked there.

I think it depends how you act too. If you assimilate and mix with the population and act civilised and educated then most people would respect that. I have a friend from India who hasn't been here that long and he acts like such an old fashioned English gentleman that everybody loves him.

  18. Racially motivated attacks are actually quite rare in England which is why they tend to make the news. Far more people are killed by car accidents but this is so common you tend not to hear about it when it happens.

That's not to say there aren't racists but no more so than any other country (and in fact I think we're more tolerant than a lot of countries). I don't think Hastings is a particular hot spot for racist violence.

  19. england is not safe for anyone anymore.
