  1. If you think that they will win next year's rugby world cup then you must view the world through rose coloured spectacles.  Personally speaking, I think England will be lucky to get through their group if they play like they are at the moment.  With Robinson quitting as Head Coach, they at least have a chance of maybe the quarterfinals.  But to actually retain it?  No chance!!

France will obviously be strong contenders playing on their own soil, but will they have the self-discipline to go all the way?  You just don't know which French team will turn up.  There could be the free-flowing French team oozing with flair, or there could be the erratic, error strewn French team letting their frustration spill over into giving away silly penalties.  But there no doubting that they have the potential to win it if they can put a string of good performances in.

Out of the other Six Nations teams, I would say Ireland have the best chance to do something special.  It certainly seems likely that they will win the Six Nations next year and if they do, with their current strength in depth in their squad, they have to be considered as contenders.  Wales and Scotland have certainly improved greatly in the last four years.  However, I think they will both go no further than the quarterfinals.

Argentina have had some spectacularly good results in the last couple of years or so, beating Scotland at Murrayfield, England at Twickenham and could be a strong dark horse in the competition.  I don't think it will be long before they are added to the Tri Nations competition in the southern hemisphere.

I certainly don't think South Africa are as good as the vintage who won the 1995 tournament.  Out of the the main southern hemisphere sides they are the weakest, but having said that, they will be nobody's pushovers.

Australia clearly were using their recent tour of the UK and Ireland to blood a few newcomers and some of their selections were somewhat experimental and that resulted in possibly a disappointing tour in terms of results against the likes of Wales and Ireland, but I think we saw more of the real Australia against Scotland.  Australia didn't have a number of their more recognisable stars like George Gregan but come the World Cup, they will be back to full strength again, with their players playing in their more recognised positions and I would expect them to be finalists.

New Zealand are quite rightly the red hot favourites to win the tournament.  They have been absolutely awesome and, no matter how you view their exploitation of the rulebooks grey areas, they have got to be the team to beat.  Mind you, they were red hot favourites to win it in 1991, 1995, 1999 and 2003 and they only managed to make the final on one of those occasions in 1995.

So whoever does finally manage to emerge victorious, let's all hope that it is done playing free-flowing exciting rugby.

  2. HAHA.

No Chance, The team is currently a shambles.

    New Zealand will win it.

  3. no way no how

  4. Not a prayer!!!!!

  5. No

  6. C'mon Ireland........after how we did in the autumn internationals you wud have to say we have a chance.Easily in top 3.England have had a brutal streak. No chance for them retaining trophy

  7. No way.they are just a bunch of ovcer paid primma donnas. Andy Farrell is seen as the saviour of the backs but in 10 years as the leader of the great britain rugby league team they won nothing. Beat the French but so does everyone else. The odd win over the Aussies and New Zealand. If you have to resort to players like him then you really are struggling.

  8. God I pray , Yes! But currently no coach....so not looking good.....I don't care..I love Engalnd no matter.........

  9. are you serious there is no way that they are going to win anything!! but Ireland on the other hand well they're going to win everything! c'mon Ireland!

  10. All Blacks, South Africa or Ireland

  11. If they do win it they wont need to fly back from France, they will be able to walk across the Channel cos they will have performed a miracle!

  12. Nope they won,t win the world cup........New Zealand will. The all blacks are firing on all cylinders.

  13. Just picked myself up off the floor I laughed so much!

Do you remember, remember the 5th of november?

The AB's hammered England and they will win the WC!

England wont get further than the group stages unless there is a vast improvement in the squad!

  14. No, unless they have a meltdown of classic proportions the All Blacks will win it.

  15. no we r shite

  16. No.

They won me £1400 last time but I don't think I'll have a flutter on this game. The only other talented yet shambolic squad in a worse state than us is SA and they still won the other day.

    NZ, Aus or Ireland

  17. No! I don't think so. I think England will do  badly again.

  18. I agree with all the comments made on this Question.

England have absolutley no chance of winning next year.

I think that New Zealand will walk away with it but the All Blacks always seam to peak a year to early.

Obviously I would love to see Wales win it but think it is 4 years to early.

My outsiders Would be France as they will get plenty of support being the home nation & also after the way that Ireland played during the Autumn Internationals I wouldnt dicard them.

South Africa & Austrailia cannot be counted out as well.

    Roll on September I say.

  19. well, they might! but we shud not under estimate any other team as well, for instance, all blacks n australia r there too. anyways, i wud just like to wish all da teams all da veri best.  i m reali lukin fowad to da games myself!  MAY D BEST TEAM WIN!!!

  20. No, doesn't look likely does it?

    It's Ireland's year...I KNOW it!!!

  21. nop, put ur money on IRELAND..

  22. Not a chance i am afraid ..they havent been playing too well at all ... will be putting my money on the all blacks ...

  23. No,  they will get through to the semi-finals though.

  24. In a word, no.

  25. not a hope, have u been watching your previous few games in the Autumn internationals?

  26. They wont even get a cup to drink out of on the plane ride over much less a World Cup.

There is no way.  There is months left til it starts and they not only force out the coach, but have no plans for a new one, much less even a clue what the new game plan is going to look like.  then once they develop a game plan and get a coach, they will have hardly a chance of getting enough time playing the new game plan to be proficient at it (whatever it is).  At this point they should just save the money and not even pay a coach, just let the guys go out and play and have fun and forget about all of this Wourld Cup madness.

It's going to be the All Blacks unless they are secretly drugged before games or something.

  27. God no!! its IRELAND all the way baby..............just sit back and watch the masters do their thing.
