Do you think that I.S. Syndrome could be caused by something spiritual?

Such a great question deserves some sort of answer! I don't have much knowledge to offer, but I have a few thoughts. I knew a guy who was actually dropped on his head by the doctor after being delivered. He had some brain damage as a result. The interesting thing about that was that his brain seemed to grow stronger in the undamaged areas. He didn't have much common sense, but he had a computer-like memory. If he read a book of baseball statistics, years later he could tell you anything in the book (who pitched which games, batting averages of any player, etc.).

One possibility is that idiot savants have developed some sort of ability to compensate for their extremely low ability to function as most people do. It may very well be something paranormal. If that is the case, it would indicate that most people have undeveloped abilities and the potential to do amazing things.
