I have a homewest house (which is a reduced rent property) here in Australia we get paid from Centrelink for being a student which I am. But every week I run out of money and am forced to eat at my mothers for tea every night because I have a large amounts of depts I owe. I've only been unemployed for 2 months and am looking for work in fact I have job network members and career connect from uni that are trying to find me some part time worker. The point is I'm just not getting much money to support myself so I really want to get rent assistance from centrelink do you think that I am elligibal? Is it so since I'm already getting reduced rent property?

  1. Gee, they would be the best ones to call up and ask now wouldn't they?

  2. I can only suggest to ring up centrelink as they have crazy rules on who can and can't get rent assistants.  I would ring up a couple of times cause sometimes one person will say a different thing to another.

I know that you may not be able to do this,  but I strongly suggest that you move back home.  Unless you are getting cash in hand jobs (which don't effect your centrelink payment), it might be better to suffer the parent roof parents rules until you get back on your feet.

  3. you cannot get rent assistance if you are living in a rent reduced property...i know it sucks

  4. I think you should speak with centerlink and tell them your situation, they may have some provision for your situation, other than that you might be better off stay with your mom for a while, and get part time work and pay off the debt.

Hope it help and good luck.

    Cheers
