Do you think that Ian Thorpe could of had completed in Beijing last week if he didn't retire when he did?

Know that he took some time off after Athens, 2004 and was intending to complete in these games as well. Instead he lost his motivation for it or something along those lines, can't remember exactly what it was or what could have been. Retired an yr half ago (11/2006) from the competitive part of it.

I'm no expert on the depth of the Australian swim team, but if he kept training as hard as he was, barring injury, I'm sure he would've had a good shot.

he had some stomach problems which caused him to not swim for awhile to get better, which is where he was able to experience the real world. where he could stay up late & go out with friends even sleep in on a weekend,

Made him realize that swimming was boring, as he said, "I'm bored."
