Don't you think that India's condition is quite similar to that of

U.S,during it's developing phase or more accuratly when development really started in 1880's

Now let me make it cleartht why I have compared India with U.Sand not any other developed country because it was in U.S only that a slow but steady revolution took place which caused it to emerge as real superpower. In europe most of the economies were colonial while japan had another kind of economy.

Even on the socio-economic front conditions prevailing in U.S were quite similar to that of present day India.Intense corruption, both of political and administrative were a common occurance.Lynching of black people were done to divide the country on racial basis as is now being done in India on caste system.About a third of the income went to 5% of the population.More than half of the population lived below poverty line and the list of similarities goes on.....What opinion do you have?

  1. It has basic similarities, but major differences.  In the US in the late 19th century, there was still plenty of land and a lot of jobs for educated and uneducated alike.  India has way too many people and not enough jobs for uneducated poor.  They will continue to get poorer and the rich richer.  I think it will go in the opposite direction of the US at some point.

  2. To me, there is one big difference.  Indians tend to be great synthesizers while Americans tend to great innovators.

In order for India to become a major super power, they need to embrace creativity and innovation to a greater degree.
