'Root Races' as given in the doctrines of the Rosicrucians, Helena Blavatsky, the Thule Society, the Vril Society, many elitists, and even the n***s? Some say J.R.R. Tolkien knew of these repetitive cycles when he wrote his Lord of the Rings Trilogy that started with the 'Armageddon' of the 2nd root race age (Hyperborea) and ended with the 'Armageddon' of the 3rd root race age (Lemuria) and the start of the fourth root race age (Atlanteans). Others say he was trying to warn us in a way. Like the eye of Sauron is similar to modern and ancient symbols:

  1. Maybe he was warning us by comparing his trilogy to real life obstacles that might cause us to fight for our very lives later in the future.

  2. The books were terrific stories parables even,if you like.Trying to find some kind of existential meaning to them.If Hobbits were real they'd say that's silly.

  3. I'm sure he "knew of" the ideas you mention, since they were very popular until about the 1950's. He was, after all, a university professor of Anglo Saxon and ancient English, so these ideas would be there. However, I don't know how far you can go in speculating what his work "means". I do know that if you've read Beowulf, most of The Hobbit reads like plagiarism.
