  1. Yes, but with one fallback...

Pros- get women votes, get massive evangelical votes (which he would have had with Huckabee but not Romney)

Cons- end of inexperience argument against Obama (Palin only has 2 years governor experience, and she was on a city council for 9000 person city)

  2. yes it was brilliant  Obama just lost!!!!!  McCain knows how many states we have too unlike Obama

  3. We will see how the media can trash this woman...she in my mind is a good pick. He picked up many of the Catholic faithful who take their faith seriously. She seems genuine...and extremely confident.

  4. yes, a Wahington outsider with a record of taking on corrupt politicans, big oil, special interest groups and working across the aisle with Democrats.

McCain needed to distance himself from Bush and this is a great 1st step

  5. Yes, big time.

  6. yes  i  do  think  he  did  a  good job picking  her

  7. It couldn't have been worse.  She is an ultra right wing conservative that may solidify the Republican base, but also isolates it.

Her views on abortion, g*y marriage, gun control, the war etc. alienate whatever moderate support McCain had, and turns Hillary/McCain supporters back into Hillary/Obama supporters.  McCain put all his eggs in the basket of charging up the conservative base; a very stupid move.

Lets not forget that she is currently under federal investigation on charges of corruption, and only two years ago was only mayor of a town smaller than the neighborhood I live in.  She is totally unqualified, and will be eviscerated in the debates against Joe Biden, a lifelong senator who chairs the foreign relations committee, and is much more known by the American people and liked.

This is the final nail in the McCain campaign's coffin.

  8. yes, how sad it is that the man running for president is far less experienced than the woman running for vice president.  Obama has no business running for president, not to say he isn't a nice guy, but he hasn't done anything except to give moving speeches.  He should find another place in governement, or maybe he could even become the new pastor of his old church.

  9. Dear Lord, NO!! I think it's one of the worst decisions McCain has made over his entire campaign.

McCain is 72. If he died while in office, how in the world is a former mayor of a pop. 9000 town / first term governor at all capable of handling foreign policy, the national economy, the energy crisis, etc. If he died, America can officially declare itself royally screwed.

  10. I think that it's great for Obama/Biden ticket. Because by choosing a running mate with no foreign policy experience, his argument against Obama's inexperience is very weak now. Obama's running mate Biden is highly experienced in foreign policy. Therefore,Obama can lean on Biden to help him make decisions on foreign policy matters. As for McCain,he's 72 years old with a history of health problems. If he dies in office, then Palin will take over as president with very little foreign policy experience. If Obama ends up not finishing his term, Biden will be ready to take over as president because of his extensive foreign policy experience.

But yeah...by choosing inexperienced Palin for his running mate, McCain can't argue about Obama's inexperience. McCain's judgment can be really criticized now.

Also...my first impression about McCain's pick is that he's targeting women voters including especially disgruntled Hillary supporters. However, her strong pro-life record won't sit well with the women that are prochoice. Her strong conservatism won't sit right with liberals. Therefore, his pick might actually backfire. His pick can be seen as insulting womens' intelligence too.

  11. If you look at it, from this point it's an in your face Obama pick...

Now we have heard how Obama wants to change America... Not for the better, but that's another question all together.

So... He picks someone who has been in Washington almost longer than anyone else... Neither of these fellas will walk accross the aisle and work with the republicans... They are die hard liberal, with no other ideas other than that.

So McCain picks a gal who by all acounts is a really good American... Without any ties to Washington...

The next President of the Senate will do a lovely job.

  12. Considering McCain called Cindy a derogatory name (think "punt" with a "c" instead of a "p") when she jokingly commented on his thinning hair-his respect for women is very questionable. He did not rebuke a campaign worker when she said "How do we beat the (female dog term)" with regards to Hillary. Instead he stifled (not very well) a laugh. Now he hopes to lure her supporters with this Pro-life, anti-gun control, under investigation for "abuse of power" substitute? It is a good pick-for the Democrats to win.

  13. Well this will probably change voters to Democratic since he pick his VP female, some not all. I'm shock that he pick a women. Maybe will get Clinton voters

  14. I think its a good choice ! but all those men out there who would never vote for any women that will be a challenge.

Hope, change right isn't that what Obama always says.  So McCain is going out on limb.  And now its a bad choice.  What a joke Dem's are

  15. Until today, I thought I would never vote for Obama.  But that screeching voice of Palin's turned the corner for me.

I surrender.  I'm voting for Obama.

  16. I, an Obama supporter, Think it was a GREAT pick. He could only have done better for democrats by picking mickey mouse. McCain just lost the election to day! WOO HOO!

  17. Brilliant.  Attracts Evangelicals and some of the women that voted for Hillary.

  18. Yes, this shows regardless to what people are saying on this site...McCain has no judgment, and he is really concern about 11/04...the rhetoric is out of control on this site, Carl Rowe at his best.
