  1.   I harbored serious reservations about McCains campaign and run for POTUS until 2 things happened:

    Obama picked Biden, who will sooner than later prove a serious liability;

McCains choice of Palin, as VP.  despite all the "attacks" on her and the smears and issues they throw out, I honestly believe once this woman starts "campaigning" she WILL win the hearts and minds of America and  Obama can pack his bags and return to his violent and corrupt Chicago District.......or should I say his

$ 400,000.00 "special price for him" home in the gated ALL white community.

  2. On the contrary.

Sarah Palin is a redneck NRA chick.

  3. Since McCain's VP pick has more experience than the Dems presidential candidate...it seems like a pretty good choice right now!

  4. depends

  5. No. Because he only picked her because she's a woman. He's playing a game, and his VP pick made that completely clear.

  6. I think she was a brilliant choice. & fits the conservative, Republican ticket well.

  7. OBAMA HAS IT ALREADY

  8. Absolutely!  She only has to pull in about 20% of disaffected Hillary Clinton delegates and Obama is toast.  She will do that easily.

  9. Yes. Certainly

    Sarah is a good Mommy

  10. it could help him win the presidency but holds no residual value in the long run

  11. On the contrary, I think she will hinder his efforts.  I think she's much, much, MUCH too conservative and Evangelical for my tastes.

  12. Not according to polls:

  13. nope. She's too inexperienced. We don't need an inexperienced vp to take control if something happens to the president!

  14. No. We see what he is trying to do. However, her complete lack of experience (The presidential historians at George Washington University state that she is the least qualified nominee in modern times). The fact that her entire state has a population less than 700,000 people coupled with the huge revenues received from the oil pipeline, fisheries and tourism make governing Alaska a cake walk. There is no way she is qualified to protect this country if McCain should take ill. I believe the American people are sophisticated enough to see past the weak reasoning of choosing her. Of course, she has less of the baggage of corruption and moral bankruptcy that permeates the party. Overturning Roe vs Wade is an issue that plays well in Middle America as does the off shore drilling. More of the same, in my opinion. I think McCain has made another grave error in judgment. He does that a lot.

  15. No.  It shows McCain's bad judgment.

Obama picks the best, even someone who outshines him in some areas. McCain makes a strictly political choice.

OBAMA is the one who put America first in his VP choice.

  16. She cost him the election when he was gaining points from somewhere but it wasnt from me. Nothing in 25 years and the borders are still wide open when he lives in Az. come on plp!!

  17. No it won't.

Just like Obama's pick for Biden won't help him either.

  18. Palin was a good decision.  She has a maverick history like John McCain and she doesn't have a lot of Washington experience so she can be called clean.  Also the traditional job of the VP is to act as the attack dog (so the Presidential Candidate can been seen as noble and above the fray).  She can attack, but it is going to be a little hard for the Democrats to attack a female candidate after the things with Hillary.  There are a lot of Democrats that are so mad that Hilary didn't win that they will be sure to jump party lines now (or at least that is the Republican's hope, in many cases they will be right).

It does cut the legs out of his claim that Barack Obama doesn’t have the experience unless he claims that he is going to train her on the job.  Most VPs enter office and just hang around doing make work.  d**k Cheney is a HUGE exception and the most powerful VP since the days of the Revolution.  Maybe the GOP plans on changing the role of VP, but some how I don't think so.

I read an article on My Yahoo about some kid who had been promoting Palin for almost a year.  This college student, young Republican, says she is the best remedy against Hilary Clinton and while Hilary may not be on the ticket her race and the emotion it stirred can’t be denied.  I read the article but I don’t see her bringing much to the ticket beyond a political ploy, but then most VPs don’t do much for the ticket.  Normally they are chosen from big states to get all those electoral votes, but that isn’t true in this case.  She may have less than one year of experience as a governor, but she has almost 16 years at the local level; starting from the PTA after she won Miss Congeniality as a beauty queen, which is another political contest.

I don’t think that John McCain himself wants her for any reason except to win.  He probably doesn’t know her from squat and is just using the advice of his advisers and what he sees as good political tactics.

Hillary has shown that she will tow the Democratic Party line so she will probably stay in the Senate.  If the Democrats win she may be frozen out of office for 16 years and she doesn’t have too much more than 20 left.

If John McCain wins then that puts a woman not only a heartbeat away from the highest office, but the next logical person to elect after John McCain leaves office.  That is how many Presidents got to office; by serving as the VP.  I think the US is ready for a woman chief executive, but I don’t trust Hillary; she is too well connected to “the good old boy network,” which is exactly what John McCain’s running mate is best known for fighting.  She is a mother of five and all women are going to say “that is enough experience in an executive job for me!”  She fought the Grand Old Party (GOP) and when the former Republican Governor of Alaska bought a huge private airplane, she beat him into office and sold that plane on eBay; that was a strong statement.  The republicans always want to be seen as the party that can stand strong against our enemies and that shows she has the guts to stand with him.  He wants to be known as the guy who fights the system and that is her history to; but I looked at a line by line analysis of Barack Obama’s speech and Obama was dead on when he said that John McCain voted with George W. Bush 90% of the time.  The Congressional Record said that he voted 90% of the time with him for the first 4 years and 95% with him for the next four years.  That tells me that John McCain is not going to be much change in what we have now and I HATE what we have now.  I don’t like some of Barack Obama’s stands, but I am leaning more and more to him each day.

I think we need to stay in Iraq until the job is done, but we might still be able to withdrawal under his time table.  His line that he will give those without health care the same system as Congress has for itself tells me that he is planning on a HUGE system.  He also doesn’t want to make those benefits taxable, which is the standard for any benefits or entitlement program.  Social Security is taxable, as is Rail Road retirement and most others.  The Veterans retirement plan is NOT taxable and that is a huge exception to the rule (I am a disabled Vet and I worked as an H&R Block tax preparer for 1 year so I know what I am talking about here).

Socialized Health care is a huge problem for places like Canada and England and takes a large part of the national budget.  I have heard that one problem in the English Health Care System is that kidney dialysis is considered an extra procedure and not commonly given.  This is one of the concessions that Socialized Health Care requires (TV News special on Health Care).

The selection of Sharah Pilan was a shrewd move by the Republicans and proof that John McCain and his advisers are no body's fool.  I don't think she will be that popular with the rest of the world because of her lack of experience, but their opinion doesn't matter much in Presidential Politics.

  19. No, in my opinion she did not help him ..

  20. Yes,

Palin is the only candidate that supports banning the birth control pill.

It's worth noting that Gov.Palin is a member of "Feminists for Life", an organization with members that openly support outlawing all "non-abortifacient contraception" (anything that stops implantation of the fertilized egg). http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/ff...

Most women do not know that all BC pills kill  babies and here is how.

    http://www.thepillkills.com/how.html

We may not be able to overturn Roe vs Wade but there is no constitutional right to the birth control pill.

As VP she could break a tie vote in the Senate, and explain this to the men in the Senate.

Since McCain's father did not live to 72 she will probably even be President.

  21. Not really. She still has some issues that are not cleared up in Alaska with her involvement with her brother in law and sister. And McCain's complaining about Obama's experience, what about her 20 months of experience or her experience with a small town, etc.  I see a lot of issues that need to be cleared up quickly as possible.

  22. she would be a heartbeat away from the presidency. She is in favor of banning ALL abortions, even in cases of incest, rape or life threatening complications. She is very good looking, which (to me) is not even a consideration for the job she seeks. Mcbush messed up big time if he thinks the country will vote in a housewife as a possible president. America is not that stupid, and if we are, god help us all.

  23. It will do the absolute opposite.  McCain can pack it in, he's history

    this time literally!

  24. No because she doesn't appeal to the demographics of the voters he is trying to appeal to

Sarah is a terrible choice. I m not saying she is a like George Bush

I know she is talented and a very smart and ambitious lady

but she has be to be THE most terrible choice for VP

Biden is going to rip her during the debates

  25. NO. He probably picked her to attract minorities since she's a woman.

(And maybe because she was a former beauty contestant... who knows... just kidding.)

It could help a tiny bit with the Hillary supporters that don't like Obama. That group consists of mainly lower class women ages 35-49.

Sarah Palin doesn't have a whole lot of experience and most people haven't heard of her, but 15 years down the road I think she can be someone. We're talking major potential.

Oh, and considering McCain is an old guy, and let's face it... won't live THAT much longer, I don't think she's ready to be commander in chief if, god forbid, something happens.

  26. Help him win, probably not, but since she's the only one on the ballot with any actual executive experience I figure he's planning on her teaching him how to do the job after he's elected.

  27. No, I do not believe it will. He pretty much blew it.

  28. McCain is, without question, deplorable (as is Obama also!), but I feel that the RNC slam-dunked the DNC in selecting this electrifying Alaskan governor. Numerous readers rave in their criticism of this woman because Pilan comes from a far away rural state. Why does a pol have to be a professional D.C. insider to hold top office, or, alternatively, an executive from typically one of the larger liberal-oriented lower 48 states? Pilan will prove to be a savvy choice, and I am confident that the skunk McCain will be our next President. By the way, Pilan's staunch anti-abortion stance (even in cases of incest or brutal rape) is not going to do significant damage. Most people understand that a life is a life no matter what hideous circumstances that the egg was fertilized!

  29. Probably, I think it was a good strategy.

  30. Palin is a nail in the coffin. She has no practical experience and when she gets into a debate with Joe Biden she is going to be ripped apart. McCain aparrently doesn't only think that women don't deserve equal pay for equal work, he also thinks that women are stupid enough to fall for voting for him because Gov. Palin is on the ballot.

  31. She is an awesome choice and is just what we need in DC. She will help him tremendously
