I keep hearing that on here and that seems like very shallow thinking. Here is this man who spent 5 years being tortured as a pow. He had the chance to leave, but wouldn't without his men. Do you honestly believe that someone with such impeccable morals and strong love for his country would pick a vp simply for votes???? Honestly, give it a few minutes to think about it before you answer please.

I don't think so. I believe McCain realizes he's only a stopgap and that new Republicans will be taking over. This is the beginning.

Her gender is the overriding reason she was picked.  I don't think there is any doubt about it.

His morals and strong love of country (which I agree with you that he has) have not stopped him from snuggling up with the Religious Right which he has been at lager heads with for decades.

The most cynical side of me thinks oil executives might be providing huge financial promises to the Republican Party to get her out of Alaska where she has been a thorn in their side.

Nope, McCain picked her because she has experience to bring to DC that will create positive Change for Americans.  She has a 80% approval rating in her state that is the largest state in the Union- that speaks historical volume!  She cares about the working class people and does not put up with corruption.  She stands up for what is right and ethical and does not cower in a mans presence.  Furthermore, her economy in Alaska is amazing and she does not tax people to death!  She brings so much to this campaign and there is absolutely no question about her love for America.
