Do you think that Ricky Hatton's should have changed his trainer?

First off I'm not saying his trainer didn't do a great job getting Ricky to the top, I'm just saying Ricky needed more to beat a guy like Floyd. If you look at Ricky his head movement is not good at all. Compare his movement with Frazier or Tyson and you will see what I mean. Those guys even though they stalked made it difficult to counter. Hatton just comes in with his head stationary. A top notch trainer could have taught Hatton better defense.

I wouldn't want ricky in there trying out stuff he's not comfortable with doing or has ever done.

He'll get tagged then resort back to his old self in a round. lol

At this stage in Ricky life he needs to dance whit the one he brought a new trainer would not have helped he just got beat by a better fighter

Lets face it hatton is a great brawler type fighter. He has power. Being a boxer is not just skill it brain as well. Floyd is a smart fighter,quick,has some snap in his punch,and he is very allusive. A little difficult for Hatton. New trainer may have helped ,but when things don't go right people always go back to what has worked for them in the past. So Hatton would have went back to his old style anyway if things did not go his way in the fight.

A trainer can only take you so far, although it sounds like a good theory, I've never seen good results when a fighter has tried to change trainers. Kermit Cintron changed trainers too, but look what happened in the margarito fight, he got knocked out again. It's really all about the fighter, I think floyd is just a more gifted boxer than Ricky is, his speed and reflexes are god-given gifts that Ricky, nor any fighter, has been able to overcome. You cant teach those types of things. In addition to that, Ricky is a professional boxer, I'm pretty sure he has been exposed to all types of defensive and offensive techniques, (if not by trainers, by other fighters that he has faced )and has chosen the ones that he is best at and feels most comfortable using,and more head movement would probably interfere with his aggressive style because head movement is typically used by counter punchers, not aggressive fighters like Ricky.

The Problem isnt Ricky's trainer.  The PROBLEM is the HYPE that YALL put on , making Ricky think that he was going to beat Floyd.  Truth is that Floyd is a MUCH BETTER fighter than Ricky and Ricky Kept Charging at him thinking he was going to land something BIG.  Floyd is TOO CLEVER for that and we ALL saw the result.  Ricky needs to stick to beating up his own native country boxers , cause fighters like Floyd, Mosley, DeLahoya, h**l maybe even Forbes is Too much for him.

Dead on.  You couldn't possibly be more right, as we watch Ricky Hatton smothering his own punches.  He was absolutely lost when his crappy, sloppy attack didn't work.  A lot like Lennox Lewis trading in his crappy ENGLISH boxing style after McCall knocked him cold.  All of a sudden, Lewis's fights get way easier.  Hatton needs to Americanize his style if he wants to move to the next level.

Its too late in the day for Ricky to think about changing trainer completely, but one thing you might not know is that he has actually brought in another trainer to work alongside Billy Graham to help with a few things and i think lateral movement was one of the things mentioned. I think nobody knows Rickys weaknesses better than Ricky and Billy Graham but is it a case of you cant teach an old dog new tricks because i didnt notice much difference in his style in the Lazcano fight, hopefully we will start noticing some slight improvements in his defensive work over the next couple of fights.

I see Fudd is back with his usual c**p, it would surprise me now if there was a question about a British boxer and he hadnt wrote a load of c**p about them. Why should our boxers Americanize they do pretty well as they are Hatton, Haye and Calzaghe are all ruling their divisions how many Americans are top of their division i can only think of Floyd and Pavlik so i would say we do OK for the size of our country.
