  1. The cool thing about Sandals in St. Lucia is that you have access to all three of their resorts on the island, no matter which one you stay at.  There are free shuttles that leave regularly throughout the day.

That said, my wife and I loved our honeymoon at the Sandals - Halcyon Beach resort.  It is the smallest of the three (Grande is the largest), and that was nice, because we got to know the staff and other guests over the week we stayed.  By the end of the week, half the resort knew us by name!  I imagine the experience at Grande is much different, but that may be more up your alley if you are not as social as my wife and I are.

There are ALWAYS activities going on, so you are free to do as much, or as little as you want.  We typically alternated days - one day we would participate in all kinds of activities, the next day, we just lounged at the pool (and enjoyed the many swim-up bars), napped, and did newlywed stuff (wink).

We did a few excursions, and we enjoyed them all.  Some are free, but most of the good ones you have to pay for.  They fill you in on all the details at your orientation meeting (the first morning of your stay).  If you participate in some of the "parties" they have, they often have contests with prizes, and you can win a "pay" excursion.  That's what we did - we played  their version of "The Newlywed Game" and won two tickets on a sunset cruise, which was a blast!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  I wish you both the best!

  4. I went to the Grande for my honeymoon almost 5 yrs ago and it was awesome. I had the best time. We were there for 10 days and visited all 3 resorts. You must eat at all 3!! The food is wonderful. We visited the "drive thru" volcano and that was such an experience. The Pitons are beautiful too. We rode horseback on the beach. All the info ( I think) was right there at the resort for things to do. Also- that particular resort is on a peninsula so you get a nice cross-breeze and even though we were there in May I needed a light sweater at night=)

At check-in there was champagne and concierge service. You have your booze bottles in your room!! ;-) Just a wonderful ralxing time with all sorts of beach activities right there at the resort.

By the way, the service was impeccable as were the rooms!

  5. I had my honeymoon there and had a great time!  The staff was very friendly.  Everybody had a smile on their face the entire time.  The food was great! The best tasting fruit I've ever had!   Our room was wonderful and very romantic!   They have typical resort activities going on.  Cute boutiques to shop at.  One day when we got back from the beach, the housekeeper had run us a bubble bath with rose petals -- Just to be nice!!!!

One of the bartenders told us about a block party called the Jump Up.  It was off of the property, so after we had dinner, we went to the front lobby (it was about 9pm) and asked the bellman to call us a cab.  He asked us where we were going and when we told him, he said that Sandals rather guests don't leave the resort unattended and insisted that we stay on the resort.  I started to get mad because I'm an adult and don't really like being told what I can and can't do.  And I certainly would never blame the resort if I chose to leave the property and something bad happened.  Anyway,  I insisted that I wanted to go hang out with the natives at this block party.  So, the bellman grabbed his stuff, changed his shirt and came with us.  I guess his manager told him if a guest is adamant about venturing out that someone must go with them.  We had a good time and the natives were friendly, however, I did understand what the bellman was talking about.  There is alot of poverty there and here are the American newlyweds in fancy clothes and diamond rings hanging out with hundreds of people we don't know and have no idea where we are or where we are going.  I could see how the resort was concerned.  So this is just a head up if you are the type to go off on your own.

But it was a great trip and I would definately go back.
