Ok, I'm thinking up diets to put my dog on. I am going to think of a few, then put my mutt on the one I choose. Here is the one I thought of:

6:00am: 1/2 of a 13.5 ounce can of Chicken Soup adult dog food(wet)

4:00pm: A few dog treats

7:30pm: 1/3 cup of Chicken Soup adult dog food(dry)

Can anyone please suggest some treats that are under $3.50, please?

  1. you cant put your dog on that kind of diet.  Dog needs dry food more then wet food.  but what can do and i know allot of trainer that do this. natural balance make a soft food that comes in a roll and its dog food but you can use it as treat. my dogs love it... dry food i would go with either Nutro Ultra mix, EVO, or Diamond.

How big is the dog cause that will matter on how much food they should get.

The reason that i suggested those foods is because they are the best

the low costing foods are ok but not the best . They have filler which the dog will not digest which makes them go to bathroom more and they dont get the nutrients they need. the foods that i suggest do have the best ingredients and help your dog have long life

  2. Looks like a good diet.... would be better if you make sure they've got water to drink as well!....and what about an exercise regime .....

but I'm just wondering why you're asking about a diet - is it because you just want to make sure your dog's on a good diet, or is it because your dog's overweight!.....

  3.      It's not good to put a dog on a canned food diet, because it can messy poops and hurts their teeth.  As far as the "Chicken Soup" brand, it has alot of fat and fillers, so maybe try Science Diet variety, starting with a puppy food.  As far as treats, don't give alot, and try using them as a reward.

  4. This is probably fine for a dog that's under 15lbs.  If your dog is much bigger, I'd think that it's not enough food.

For most dogs, not overfeeding and increasing exercise is the best way to drop weight.

Treats under $3.50?  Frozen blueberries, frozen green beans.  Buy some chicken breast, cube it, and freeze it.

Hot dogs aren't the best for your dog, but cut up into little pieces, the can make good easy treats.

Added:  43lbs?  What does the label say to feed a dog of that size?  What's he supposed to weigh?  If the label says he's supposed to be getting at least 1/2 again what you are wanting to feed him, you put him at serious risk for vitamin deficiency and malnutrition.

45 minutes simply isn't enough for some dogs.  Many breeds with higher activity levels need at least 2 hours of exercise and work type activity.

Edit:  Oh, I forgot that all the people who don't know about food will come on and scold you about wet food.

TO THEM:  WET FOOD IS FINE WITH PROPER DENTAL CARE.

  5. It would help more if I knew what size your dog is and what breed(s). My dogs don't eat wet food, they only eat dry. If I use wet food it is only as a topper for their dry and it is a very small amount.

  6. An active dog weighing 45 lbs should be eating around 1200 calories. The diet you provide is only going to have 546, which will cause the his body to go into starvation mode.

The Chicken Soup foods are decent foods, but you would be better off finding a more calorie dense food if he refuses to eat very much. Nutro and Natural Balance both make high energy foods that have more calories, and I believe Innova has a few types as well.

  7. for a small or medium dog yes its ok can you say the size plz?
