Its happening to often now Aidan O'Brien running 3/4 horses in the same classic and the favourite getting squeezed for room, is this fair? Your comments please.

  1. this defenitly is not fair

i backed tartant bearer and feel angry and cheated as he is easily the best horse in that race and with a clear run would have won with ease.

  2. I did not see or back on the race ..I`m interested to see the re-run.O`Brian tends to run a few or more in the classics, with a stable like his he has  that option...I`m off to try and see if I can watch the race on the net.

  3. They definitely do play tactics, but I don`t believe the outcome of the Irish Derby could have been foreseen.   When the horse veered across the course, anything could have happened, the outcome was not predictable.   The stewards should keep a close eye on their antics in future though. Despite this its still a great training operation they have at Ballydoyle

  4. Blimey - never thought of that!   It certainly looked like it didnt it?  It was just so sudden and so bloody effective.

Yep - probably, very probably.  Good little horse Tartan Bearer and he did well to recover like he did.

  5. Who could have foreseen that a slap with the whip would have produced that result and it is freakish to suggest that was part of a plan. If Ballydoyle had known Frozen Fire was going to win Murtagh would have been riding it. There is no reason to think Tartan Bearer would have won as there was not a cigarette paper between it and FF at York. Tartan Bearer might have had a hard race at Epsom in his battle with New Approach. Getaway's limitations were fully exposed in the Grand Prix de Saint Cloud. I do not think it fair for the pacemaker to move off the rail to allow its stable companion a free passage through but if other jockeys think that may happen they should be on their guard and either anticipate that manoeuvre or wait until it is completed before making their effort. I agree that AV should have been placed last even though the interference was accidental. One should pay the penalty for infringing the rules notwithstanding it was accidental, just like all own goals are accidental.
