Question:

Do you think that US coach Bob Bradley has some bias toward americans playing in Europe over those in MLS?

To me, it seems that Bob Bradley seems to favor players playing anywhere in Europe (including Sweden, Denmark, and even Norway!) regardless of playing time and to an extent, PLAYING ABILITY over some MLS players that i deem better. Anyone else agree? One obvious one would be Eddie Johnson over Kenny Cooper for the striking role. Johnson has showed time and again how useless he can be on the international level and Johnson has been getting very scant minutes at Fulham. While Cooper is dominating over his opponents and gets full 90 minutes. Until Johnson can prove that he can be a reliable goal scorer, Cooper deserves the call up for national duty! What Bradley sees in Johnson right now i do not know.

  1. yes he does.he needs to put more confidence in the MLS US stars.

cooper has been deserved a shot and has not gotten it.cooper is huge.he may very well be extremely effective in a physical game like the one against Guatemala.he has fantastic height and strength.

he has good technical ability too.

I also think chad marshall deserves a call up.his play for the crew has been dominant.he also is 6'4' and he could be a dominating presence in the central defense.the crew are first place by the way.

bradley almost seems to have blind faith in certain players.he trluy believes in them.(eddie johnson, benny feilhaber)

he doesnt give up on them.I support bradley in his decisions but I believe bob is a reasonable man.he knows eddie and bennys windows are closed and they are just making bradley look bad now.

he will not give them too many more chances.

Im glad eddie didnt play.he would have been useless in the game against Guatemala.ching atleast scraps for the ball.

ching did what he had to do.it wasnt pretty but I appreciate chings scrapping and endurance.

  2. I've  heard that Johnson has actually left Fulham, on loan to Cardif City.  I agree---Kenny Cooper needs some serious consideration.

  3. You are right but politics interfere.

  4. You are right he has got to stop playing EJ this instant!  and E.Lewis needs to be put out to pasture.

    Good Qustion.

  5. or maybe hes doing this to motivate the mls players to aim higher and go to europe. kenny cooper is the only mls player excluded from the national team that deserves to be there. yes, eddie johnson sucks.

  6. I think Bradley does use a decent amount of MLS players...Regulars such as: Donovan, Ching, Hejduk, Mastroeni, Kljestan and he used Edu and Guzan prior to their transfers to Europe.  I'm sure Bradley will continue Eddie Lewis even though he is now with the LA Galaxy.

Bradley even used these guys against Barbados in World Cup qualifying and against England: Matt Reis, Chris Seitz, Drew Moor, Ricardo Clark, John Thorrington, Nate Jaqua, Chad Barrett, Chris Rolfe and Brek Shea.

So I think Bradley does use the MLS just as much as players with European clubs.

  7. hey there my man supsam, i totally agree bob really needs to get his act together, its almost as though he writes off your Domestic league players as soon as a european club player is available, i have seen cooper play and in all honesty he isn't as good as johnson was in the MLS but on current form he deserves i try. Johnson joined Fulham making a big deal about how things would go well for him but they havent, and the fact he is being shipped out on loan to cardiff proves that. give him time he may improve but for now cooper should have his chance and bradley should start putting faith in the MLS

  8. Maybe a little.

But if I were BB I'd probably do likewise - to play in Europe you need to be tougher and smarter.

Agreed re Johnson v. Cooper. I like Eddie a lot but I've about given up on him.
