Sanctions cannot affect governments more than the people, please reconsider the sanctions in Zimbabwe and see that it is having diminishing returns on the good people of Zimbabwe than President Robert Mugabe; friends and government.

  1. As long as the PEOPLE of Africa (various countries in Africa) are willing to allow insane killers to take over THEIR country, there is nothing that the international/world body should be doing...you wanted Fredom from various "colonial" powers now you've got it...so stop complaining to the rest of the world

  2. Zimbabwe itself is making strides to improve.   The biggest problem lies in a) its importing of so many of the goods it needs to survive, namely from the UK and b) overall the country is not making enough of a profit per year.

What you say is definately true concerning sanctions in this country- however, there also need to be boundaries and guidelines within which we want these countries to form.

Personally, i think they should open their doors to rampant foreign investment.  For lack of a better term it is "whoring out" the nation, however- right now they are going nowhere, and at least with foreign investment there will be jobs and employees with needs- creating more jobs and contributing to the nation's overall growth.  Otherwise, the nation just does not have enough of a draw to bring others to it, nor the resources to develop on its own.

  3. For decades the left wing UN members voted against South Africa, Rhodesia and Namibia. As a result of that, those flourishing countries are now under the tums of corrupt dictators. The best solution is the reinstate the former administrations who knew how to run those countries.

  4. Africa is out of control. Zimbabwe is just another example of this. I think that the people of Africa have suffered so much it seems their fate.

I am not sure that the UN has the guts to do anything. It would take a real commitment to go in, suss out the Mugabe crew and start rebuilding this nation. I am not sure that we are up to that.

If we didn't stop Rawande and are not willing to stop Darfur, why would we get involved in Zimbabwe?
